Good book, terrible printing
Easy read with great detail and lots of pictures, but the printing is lousy. The left pages through the whole book have incorrect margins so that the print runs into the spine.

Off-Road Life Coach
Come December of this year (2011) I will have logged 42 years of off-road riding. Not to shabby for a man of 49, however this man I speak of (myself) has less than a stellar career to show for his years of dedication. I cannot remember a first place trophy, I think I logged a 2nd place and then had a 28 year dry spell before I finished 5th in the 125 B class enduro somewhere in the pine barrens of New Jersey. Not long after that I finished 2nd in the 250 B class at a national enduro in Park Hills Mo. A particularly miserable race because A: It rained all week prior and most of the day 4: I had a jetting problem so I fouled 6 spark plugs D: Having fouled 6 plugs and finally running out of replacements I fell 1 mile short of completing one of two loops. I had to be towed in behind a quad. But I finished 2nd so that's pretty cool. Had I had Mr. Clippers 33 tips 42 years ago my racing career might have garnered more plastic trophies. Don't let this happen to you, consider hiring an off-road life coach, when it comes to off-road Mr. Clippers book is a bargain.

Solid information for my grandson.
I ordered this for my 12 year old grandson who's been trail riding for a year. He devoured it, reporting that he had learned lots of new material. I'm hoping that this extra knowledge will help keep him safe...he loves his bike

High Quality Information
I have ridden offroad for decades and am active in amatuer racing. After deciding to get back into enduro racing in 2004, i looked for ways to improve. Paul wrote these gems for Trail Rider magazine. Seems like they were monthly essay's 1-3 pages in length packed with high quality information written with for all audiences looking to excel at trail riding. Mr. Clipper sure lived up to his end of the bargain.

Great book overall
More aimed at the already familiar, The Art of TrailRiding still covers the basic to the advanced. This is more "how to use the bike" rather than "how to ride a bike". Good for the person thats has seen some trail rides already and may have gotten into one of the situations that Paul describes in the book. How to handle a rut, how to properly hit a berm, how to keep control on off camber trails, etc. I've read it over the past few days and have already applied a couple of the techniques from the book with success. Good read. :)

A must read!
I'm 45 years young and brand new to dirt bikes. I've had my bike about 3 months and logged about 400km's in a variety of terrain. I've fallen off plenty of times with no injuries and despite riding with groups of experienced riders and watching "how-to" DVD's, I was still missing the basics. This book was excellent in educating me on the basics of bike setup, balance and control techniques.Probably the biggest lesson for me was to get my bike setup so it was comfortable to be in the standing position. I was spending too much time sitting down and expecting to be able to have both feet flat on the ground when stopped. This was the wrong setup from the start and had previously made standing uncomfortable.I can highly recommend this book to both novice and experienced riders.

Reading with vision
As I am reading I can picture myself riding the way he is describing. I have adjusted my bike setup as stated in the book which made me more comfortable. I highlighted parts of the book that I will look back on. I am ready for summer to see how all these tips will help on next endure.

Absolutely enjoyable read!
This book was amazing! A lot of what you'll learn here will carry over all aspects of your riding, especially on the street. The nature of the terrain may change, but the principles stay the same. I highly recommend this book to any and every type of rider who wants to ride better.

An invaluable guide to better off road riding
Having only been trail riding for a couple of years I'm firmly in the beginners camp but the information provided here reinforces the lessons I've already learned and provides a huge wealth of techniques and insight into areas I need to improve upon and new skills I've been a bit daunted about trying. What's particularly motivating is the overlap with the techniques taught by Barry Morris in his excellent cross-training videos found on YouTube. The chapters each target different areas of riding and skills and are reasonably short and straightforward to follow at home and easy to reread after having put them into practice in the field. A really great book that I've recommended to my trail riding friends.

the art of trailriding
only 3 stars from me; 1:it's for enduro racers, not trailriders. 2:Often the entire message of the chapter can be got from the 1st & last paragraphs of the chapter, the rest is column space filling 3: the advice works best if you ride weekly & can practice the last few chapters you've read each time you go out
