OXO Good Grips Wooden Turner

This spatula is well made. It is durable, and can handle general daily kitchen use. I would recommend this spatula for anyone looking for a thicker durable, all around spatula. Can be used for stirring, mixing, or as a spatula. Not so good at flipping pancakes (it's thick). Good at most other things. Solid construction, durable, and solid wood.

After tossing out our black plastic utensils, I have been replacing them with metal and wood alternatives. Frankly, I was surprised at this wooden turner, as it does a masterful job of flipping pancakes, eggs, and burgers on our stove. Aside from being easy to clean, it has a sturdy handle and is very well made. Highly Recommended!

Nice quality. There is no finish on this when it arrived (i did not expect it to have one) and it was a little rough too. I sanded it a little bit and applied a few coats of mineral oil to it before washing or using it. From time to time I reapply mineral oil jus like caring for a butcher block cutting board. It would be nicer if it were a little thinner, but that may also make it fragile. It's not ideal for uses where a thin turner or spatula is needed but it otherwise it works well. Nice that it's non-stick friendly and easy to take care of (don't leave it soaking or put it in the dishwasher). The more use it gets the better it works. It is a nice in between of metal and plastic utensils.

Great quality and matches the most expensive wooden spoons I've seen selling on the net. I use this one allot, espeically when I'm carmalizing tomatoe paste for my spaghettie sauce. Thanks for making it available on Amazon! What a great price for such quality! Update 4-25-2011: Well this spoon has traveled its way through lots of spaghetti sauce pans, casseroles and so much more, while enduring countless washings in soap and water. I even use it in my distiller machine, which I bought on Amazon.com, when I make my home made distilled water. It's great after you pour in the the minerals used to "de-glaze" the stainless steal container. The deglazing minerals do no harm to the wooden spanner, nor are they toxic. But this spanner can easily reach the flat part of the stainless steal bottom and unstick all the accumulated minerals left behind by the city water from doing a week's worth of distilling of my city water for drinking here in Los Angeles. All I can say is that after four years, I don't think this spoon is ever going to wear out! I keep it in a stainless steal canister on my kitchen counter top along with the wooden hammer and other wooden utensils I bought like this one and for over four years, I sure have gotten value for my money. This spoon should be wearing a cape and cowl given how well it has stood up to such a grueling four year trial in my kitchen!

Very well made, stutdy. For all kinds of kitchen uses. Nice to have a flat sides wooden spoon.

Handle's a little thick! Might fatigue those with smaller hands if used to stir risotto. HAND-WASH ONLY! Unlike my thinner olive wood spatula, this *WILL* split in the dishwasher. Yes, I put them both in the dishwasher. This is crime. But I had to know. Takeaway: pleasantly thick-handled spatula that needs to be washed by hand and should probably be oiled once in a while.

Update: At first, I gave this turner a five star review, but have returned to update. Fresh out of the package, the spoon felt smooth and well-polished, sleek. After ONE USE and careful hand washing, the grain has raised and the spoon, when dry, feels rough and unfinished to the touch. I think I'll keep it for a bit, apply more sealing wax and see how it goes. In the meantime, I'm buying a different turner made of a different wood -either teak or olive wood - for comparison. First review: I bought this Oxo turner to use as a scraper to get the brown bits off the bottom to prevent burn notice in the Instant Pot. I like it because it is rigid instead of a bit floppy like the silicone turners I usually use, and it is very well made - one piece of solid wood, so no splits. A hint from my mother, years ago, is to seal it with a food safe wax used to seal cutting boards.
