Brooke Frasers fourth album Brutal Romantic is released in the UK on 11 May and she returns to play London on 28 April on the tour of the same name. This album saw Fraser take a nomadic journey to record in London via songwriting sojourns in Stockholm, Los Angeles, New York and on the Island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea. Brutal Romantic was produced in London by David Kosten (Bat For Lashes, Everything Everything, Marina and the Diamonds) and Fraser. Brooke Frasers last sell-out tour of Europe in 2011 followed her breakthrough worldwide hit Something In The Water. This tour tees off with the equally infectious new single Kings and Queens, currently A-Listed at BBC Radio 2. Brutal Romantic sees Brooke venturing to new musical territory with electronic flavoured, sonically daring tracks wrapped around her trademark beautiful vocals and pop melodies. Its a bold Brooke Fraser returning to the UK at the peak of her musical and lyrical powers with a new album and band that will be one of the most talked about shows of the year. Tuesday 28 April " Dingwalls, London UK.

Bold step, exciting, engaging, well recorded, a great album
We are long standing admirers of Brooke and her talent (having "discovered" her while living in New Zealand), although I must say I wasn't sure about the transition in style for this new album before I bought it. It is a marked departure for Brooke, although to her credit, she has pulled off the change in musical style really well, further demonstrating her great talent for music and composition. The thought provoking clever lyrics remain, and she uses her great voice in new ways. This is all set against a scene of clever, engaging musical backdrops which further draw you in to the theme of the song. The best thing I would say about this album is it's one of those that grows on you the more you play it. The first time through, you like some and are not sure about others, then play again and again, and gradually the whole album grabs you! To my mind, it's exactly those type of albums that become the ones you return to again and again over the years! Lets get behind the album and help get Brooke more commercial airplay, as this album could easily rub shoulders with anything else out there. Well done Brooke, great album!

Great new album
I recently had the pleasure of seeing Brooke Fraser live in Singapore on the Brutal Romantic tour. She sung a lot of material from this album so I didn't need any persuading to buy it. If you like Brooke's earlier albums then you will find this a bit different, more modern, possibly more 'commercial' but still a great album that I play a lot. Get it, you won't regret the purchase.

A remarkable album from someone I had not heard of ...
A remarkable album from someone I had not heard of before.. Track one takes getting used to as its deliberately distorted for effect but stay with it.
