Lever for toilet
My lever was broken, I found this one and decided to give it a try. The color was right on target; it fitted perfectly and works great. My toilet is an American Standard.

This is the one to get!
We have the White Cadet toilet, Model #4112. This is the right product for that toilet! And at a great price.Just be sure to pick *white* as the color and make sure that the model # that shows up is 047192-0200A . Note: the picture unfortunately still shows the outside of the toilet and not the handle & lever themselves. The handle and lever are all white unlike the original (where the lever is black).Another reviewer ran into problems with, I believe, the Bone one. What happened in that case I do not know, but the white one is the right one for the white toilet!Just make sure when you order that you are looking at the right product and select the right color (the model # changes with the different colors). You should have NO problem picking the one that American Standard recommends (at least for the white)! If you have any concerns, just order from Amazon as you'll be able to return it if it's not the right one! But, you can rest assured it will be! We ordered two, just installed one, and it is working like a charm! We also decided that we will exercise a bit more care when flushing and not press the lever at its end. That will lead to the cracks that so many people get. Putting pressure nearer the pivot point should help. I'd also strongly recommend ordering 2 at once so that you have a spare.I'm subtracting one star provisionally as this seems to be the same plastic design as the original--something that American Standard needs to change--perhaps if they use thicker plastic, a slightly larger handle that wasn't hollowed out, or steel inside an enamel outer casing, they wouldn't have such problems! But, then, I'm not a toilet engineer, nor do I play one on TV!Update: A tip for those of you who are installing this. It's about the beaded chain (string of metal pearls! :-) ) that is connected to the float and attaches to the lever inside the toilet. You want to make sure that it snaps into place. You can use a little force to do that (just grip it so that you don't bent or break anything). Our first install we simply nestled it in there, thought it was in far, didn't use any real pressure-- and, as you would expect, after several flushes, it came off! So, snapping it into place is what's needed!

This handle worked great for 4 years, and it may well work great for another ~4 more!
I bought a new to me new home in 2019 and one of the first things I had to do was replace a few parts on/in the quite nice American Standard Toilet. Normally id have just replaced the entire toilet but this one was nice and I found all the parts I needed right here at Amazon.com and they all fit perfectly.Well then last week the long plastic piece that connects to the chain broke right at the handle. So I took it off and ordered another handle. Thing is I need this toilet working now so I put some high quality glue similar to Gorilla Glue inside the crack. I took my time and put plenty of glue on it and I let it set up a day. Well, this worked great, so good in fact that when the new handle arrives it will go to into storage until I need it and I have a feeling that is going to be a long time from now. Yay!

NOT a direct fit
Angle was at 30* way too much, it scraped the inside of the tank. I heated it with a heat gun and once it was soft enough I bent it to more like 15*. Now it's perfect. Other than that it does the job as it should.

Looks and fits just like the old one
The toilet is probably 20 yrs old and the linkage for the handle was worn out and would get stuck. Bought this one and it matches the old one in color, fit and function. Thanks!

You'd better order a few for spares if you ever need to flush your American Standard toilet
Improvement)If you need to flush an American Standard toilet, then you probably want to buy a few of these as spares. Some moron designed this thing out of plastic. There is absolutely no way a piece of plastic is going to work in this application.I wrote American Standard (who is also Eljer and just about all the other toilet manufacturers in this country). They said I should have bought it from a plumber, not a home center. The models they sell through plumbers have a metal flush handle. They said they can't afford to put them on the toilets they sell in home centers, so they will keep breaking. These guys are really brilliant.Last time I bought a metal spare on Amazon but haven't installed it yet - so I'm not sure it will work in my toilet tank:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0015BX91A/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_titleLast time I replaced the handle I lowered the level of the water quite a bit (adjusted a float linkage thing). The junky plastic handle will last longer if it doesn't have to lift the valve thing very far (less weight to lift). So now the toilet doesn't flush very well - but the handle will last longer. An air-conditioning manufacturer also uses the American Standard name, but the companies are not related. Seems like the American Standard name is really in the toilet.

Worked perfectly
Easy to install but seems really expensive for a plastic item like this. However, hard to find this particular one in our local stores.
