Perfect 2 Player game
My fiancé and I got this game yesterday and have already played it three times. It is simple, cute and soooo fun! Perfect to take with you to a brewery or park and it’s going to be great for whenever we travel around 10/10

Halfway between a game of traditional Playing Cards and something like Love Letter..
My wife loves games you play with a traditional deck of cards, and I love deck builders and games like Love Letter (okay, she likes Love Letter too), but often we are at odds because I'm always in the mood for the latter and the former bores me. This is a nice compromise.Based on the item page I thought this was a game with every card having powers (like Love Letter, Brave Rats, etc) but no, some of the cards are just regular playing cards of a suite. Since there are only three suites and the suites are simplified the game has to be very well balanced to pull this off and it does. Gameplay is easy to learn smooth, and enjoyable. It's a little tricky to figure out if you want to win or lose every hand but that's where the strategy comes in (is the other player letting you win or trying to beat you?). You are supposed to play for a certain number of points/rounds but you can just play one round if you feel like it or keep playing if you're having fun, and that's a nice feature.I love the artwork but I just wish there was more of it or way I wish the unusual art was played up a bit more (the young girl wood-cutter was my favorite). Likewise I like the theme, I just wish there was more (maybe a complete story of some sort that playing the game helps to tell?).As it is, the 75% greatness of this game that feels a little incomplete is solidified by the fact that it's well balanced, high quality, and CHEAP. If the price were higher I would subtract a few points based on the fact that the game could be fleshed out a little, but at this price it's a steal. Grab it and enjoy along with Lost Cities and Guillotine.

Excellent Gift and Incredible Game!
I used to play this game with my father a lot as a kid, and it created really fond memories of waking up Saturday mornings to spend one on one time with him bonding over this two player card game, so I decided to buy it as a Christmas gift for my girlfriend who absolutely adores boardgames. The art style is truly excellent and the game is simple enough to begin playing quickly without need for overcomplicated rules and doesn't take too long so you can enjoy multiple rounds over the course of conversation and requires enough thinking and strategy to keep the players engaged in gameplay mechanics as well if you're more interested in that! It's a small box as well and is easily portable for on the go fun, and I think it's an incredible buy!

but this is a nice little filler game for two players
I'm mostly giving the Fox and the Forest four stars on account of its infinitely charming artwork. The artwork on these cards is gorgeous. As for the actual game itself, I'd probably give it around three stars. It's a decent little trick taking game. I prefer some of the other trick taking games that Renegade has put out, such as Lotus (another gorgeous looking card game), but this is a nice little filler game for two players. For those not familiar with trick taking games, you'll immediately get the idea if you've ever played Hearts or Spades. Essentially, the lead player plays a card, and the following player has to play a card of that suit (if they have any of that suit), and the rulebook contains a guide to determine the winner of that trick. The winner of the trick, leads for the next trick, and gameplay continues from that point on. Points are determined based on how many tricks you won, but the challenge is in planning for yourself to lose just enough of the tricks, because winning too many tricks will alot you zero points.Fox and the Forest has a few features that makes it unique, namely the special powers on all odd numbered cards, which will keep you on your toes throughout. This will make for an excellent addition to your collection, if all you're looking for is an inexpensive filler game designed specifically for two people. My wife and I have had plenty of fun with it so far.

Easy and fun
It's like playing "war" but with added strategy of not wanting to win EVERY hand, so you get more points. Great quick game. Easy to learn.

Easy to learn if you like spades
My husband and I and the rest of my family who is now grown up, always love playing games. I was looking for something other than that gammon or cribbage that could be played by two people. Since we love playing spades with the family when they’re here, I decided to try this one. Fox in the forest is very pretty, easy to learn, and plays similar to spades, but the special Cards And the different goals make it more fun. It’s good if you watch a tutorial on how to play and then play it at least four times to begin to understand the strategy. It’s a little more complicated than it looks to get the feel of it. In spades all you’re doing is trying to get exactly the amount of tricks that you bid you could take. In fox in the forest you were trying for a targeted area and trying to keep your partner in another part targeted area by using the special cards. I really recommend it for people who want to play a game that doesn’t take very long. It’s the perfect thing to throw in your suitcase for those nights in a motel where you order dinner in and don’t wanna watch TV.

Decent game
A decent game, but you can kind of play this game with a deck of regular cards. It is more attractive to the eyes, but if you are looking for a more strategic game, this may not be the one. It is easy to carry around and the game is fast paced which are the positives.

Great 2-player game
My wife and I are always on the lookout for 2-player games. This one is pretty cool. Relatively easy to learn, and figuring out the right strategy for each hand has lots of balance between strategy (which can shift in an instant because of all the specialty cards) and luck. Each game is fairly quick so playing a “best 2 out of 3” at one sitting is manageable. Highly recommended.
