Temple Fork: Bug Launcher Office Practice Rod

Easy to use. Responds almost like the real thing.

I have been fly fishing for years, and I am already a decent caster. I can double haul into a 20kt wind for instance, and I am pretty accurate. I can land a fly in a bucket at 60'. I only got this because I have started tarpon fishing, and practicing my timing with an 11 weight made me realize I was using my shoulder too much. Solving that problem with an 11weight was ust too much stress on my casting arm (I'm almost 50). In 5 minutes of using this thing I could tell exactly what the problems in my cast were. If you have a hard time understanding the Lefty Kreh concept of throwing a dart, apple, potato or bottle off of the end of your rod, get this thing. It will become clear in minutes.I have taught many people the basics of throwing a loop with a 7 or 8 wt. Not any more, this is going to be my go to rod to show what a tight loop should look like.Also, I have to say it is a lot of fun. If you're spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on a flyrod, get this thing. It will make it more useful.And for the record, I am not being paid to write this or anything. I am honestly just that enthusiastic about the product.

Great practice rod for fly fishing. Only complaint is the "leader" line is made of yarn and after casting a couple of times it has began to unravel and frey.

This Temple Fork Office Rod is great! It gives me the opportunity to practice my fly casting indoors, though you will need a high ceiling and a decent amount of space. I would recommend it to anyone looking to practice their casting.

I agree this is pricy. The advantage is can use it indoors! It is well made. The rod is a bug launcher model. It does take some space so you will need a long hall or room, about 30 feet total. While the tip is soft yarn, it can hang on other objects like light fixtures. This has been a tremendous help to me establishing muscle memory for fly casting. You can roll cast but without water surface tension, it is not sufficient to learn a roll cast, IMO.

This is a wonderful product for practicing and “grooving” your cast when outside conditions won’t permit practice. I would purchase again.

Very disappointed. The pieces would not fit together because the package contained the wrong middle piece. It appeared to have been packaged that way from the manufacturer. I returned it and have not reordered.

This works surprisingly well to work on casting technique for fly fishing. I would not recommend doing it indoors, but it works great outdoors. I highly recommend it.
