Artificial ceramic coals as good as the real thing
I have to say that the replacement coals made by the Stove Wizard are absolutely brilliant ! I have had this Magiglo gas inset fire for many years and have regularly changed the coals when cleaning the fire tray and gas jets. I don’t write revues unless the products purchased from Amazon perform well and I believe that these coals deserve a recommendation. I just hope that my videos find space in the Amazon machine and do justice to these excellent replacement coals.

So much better than I expected for the price
We’ve had a Flavel Kenilworth gas fire for the last couple of years - it’s very good and we’ve been very happy with it, esp. the remote control functionality. The fire came with 12 pebble coals, (8 large and 4 small). They are fine in themselves, but the one thing that we’ve always thought is that their size made the fire look a bit bare. I grew up in a house that had multiple real open fires, and so while the pebbles were absolutely fine, that bare appearance, made it look even less like the real fires I could remember when growing up. Over the last couple of years those pebbles have become discoloured and whilst I was looking for some paint to rejuvenate, I came across these coals so decided to give them a go. I have to say, they have made a massive difference - not only does it now look more like a fire (as much as a gas fire can); a happy byproduct is that we appear to have far more ‘control’ of the flame. We feel that there is now a much more obvious difference between the settings, with more gas making more nuanced flames. Previously with the pebbles there seemed to be just two settings - low and blast furnace. Whilst technically the volume of gas coming through now is no different to the previous pebbles, we *think* the greater number and different shape of these coals is affecting the flow of the gas and flames. As before, the more you increase the gas flow the larger the flames, but it now seems to be achieved in a much more controlled manner. As a result the fire looks so much better and much more ‘real’. But it could all be in our mind…. Either way, we think this is a great improvement.
