The Lagom Life: A Swedish way of living

A pleasant book with a nice balance of cultural background and philosophy, practical advice, lovely photographs, all sprinkled with instruction/recipes. A compact book, it feels pleasant in the hand due to the paper-composite cover. A previous reviewer deducted stars for the dimensions of the book, but the dimensions are stated in the product listings, and is even called “pocket book” on the book’s back cover. It provides insight into finding a balanaced lifestyle, and a peek into a culture who follows that philosophy.

It’s an ok book. If you can’t get past the author coming straight out of the gate with wrong Norse history then you may want to skip the beginning or get a different book about Lagom as there are many out there.

Check the size before you buy. 5.8x 5.8. Not the gift item I was hoping for. Looks like a kids board book.

The concept of living the good life is not new but this refreshing, honest and readable book is packed full of suggestions for small and easy ways that you can achieve a more lagom approach to life. The recipes are simple and easy to prepare and I love the idea of the 'fika' work break. How much happier and more efficient we could be if we worked this way. The importance of adopting this approach in our wasteful and greedy culture cannot be underestimated. If we could all live a little bit this way you cannot help but feel the world would be a better place. With this pocket sized book you can remind yourself easily of ways to adopt the lagom life, a sensible, efficient and more satisfying way to live.
