A Lovely Story!
A lovely story with delightful illustrations about a young Elizabeth II, who when given the choice of any gift, chose a Welsh Pembroke Corgi puppy she named Susan. The puppy became Elizabeth’s closest companion. She would drop toys at Elizabeth’s feet to cheer her up. Comfort her during the battle sounds of World War II. And when Elizabeth married Philip, who was hiding in the carriage but Susan! Over her long life, Queen Elizabeth had at least 30 corgis, most are Susan’s descendants. “The Family Tree of Queen Elizabeth II” and “The Family Tree of Susan” are interesting additions to a fun book that children will love.

A Slice of History Filled With Heart
With the recent death of Queen Elizabeth, this book could not have been more perfectly timed. But many kids may not know who she is -- that doesn't matter. They will relate to this sweet story of a girl trying to find her way in the world and how a beloved, furry companion made the journey easier. Kids instinctively understand the power of pets. This story captures the bond kids (and grownups!) have with animals while shedding light on a fascinating historical figure. A great book for kids and adults alike with lively, playful illustrations by Lydia Corry.

Heartwarming tale of friendship and loyalty
Life is grand with a best friend by your side. The Corgi and the Queen celebrates the constant companionship of Elizabeth of York—the future Queen Elizabeth II—and her corgi pup, Susan. This true-to-life picture book follows the duo from Elizabeth’s eighteenth birthday, when she wished for and received Susan as a gift, through the lonely days of World War II, and on to the Queen’s wedding (is that a stowaway in the carriage?) and life at Buckingham Palace. Treat-filled stockings at Christmas! Gourmet meals! Heartfelt and gorgeous illustrations portray daily rituals and the feisty Susan getting into all manner of doggy trouble. Fun for fans of pups, princesses, and royal history. And don’t miss the closing pages that chronicle Susan’s descendants. A dynasty of corgis rules!

A new favorite!!
This book is amazing! My kids and I learned so much about the late Queen Elizabeth through her relationship with her corgi Susan. It's such a beautiful and touching story, and the art is lovely, too. It will make a lovely gift (and not just for young kids! My teenage son was fascinated by the story, too). Highly recommend!

A really special book
Wow, this book is something special. It tells the heartwarming story behind Queen Elizabeth's lifelong love of corgis. The story is beautifully told, it made me very emotional when I read it. I love the illustrations, too (make sure you look under the sleeve!) I'm going to buy more copies to give as gifts, this is definitely not just for kids. HIGHLY recommended, definitely one of the best books of the year.

Beautiful book!
I bought this book for my great niece for Christmas since her mom loves everything about Queen Elizabeth. It tells a story about a part of her life a lot of people might not be familiar with. The illustrations are beautiful! Just make sure you have a box of tissues next to you when you read it.

Not for children
Cute book, easy to read and well illustrated. Purchased for my 5 year old niece but after reading it, I did not find it suitable for young children.

Truly beautiful book - a must buy
This is such a beautiful book. It’s incredibly well researched and conveys so much history in a wonderfully engaging way for any reader. See example picture attached - it even has family trees for the Queen and Susan (her corgi). Therefore it is very educational for kids (and me at 41). As a bonus, the illustrations make it a masterpiece. This is a wonderful addition to any collection, I can’t recommend more highly!
