Absolutely ridiculous design that I ever saw.
This shelfs design is something you don't see often, so I had to have it, but when I realized the clearance of it is way too short to be sturdy, I already became mad. It was my fault for not noticing, but at the same time, they should have been more clear that it's a 4 inch in LENGTH clearance that should be met, I thought I could mount onto 4 inches in height. Not only that, the worst part is that the knob screw is almost useless in conjunction with the way it screws in. As you keep screwing it, the part that places under your desk simply stretches out, and that's not a good way to mount. See pictures for explanation.Luckily, I have a desk with a removable top, I removed it, and mounted these terrible leg mounts under the screws of my desk, and mounted the holes of these under my wooden desk, and had to put some sort of wedge made of cardboard under the top of the leg wedge. Terrible design. Gave a 2 because it does hold up, but I had to modify it so it stands up.

Quality control is not great, but the thing's holding up ok.
The shelf looks nice and goes togetger rather easily. It doesn't feel like it should be as sturdy as it really is, though. Quality control is minimalA few issues that I encountered:1) the shelf comes with 2 types of screws (they are given a letter on instructions). First type is a metal-to-metal type, and the second is wood-to-wood/wood-to-metal type. When attaching the shelves to the metal frame, the instructions say, in text form, to use the first type of screws. However, the kit doesn't come with enough of those screws. After thinking that I was short a dozen of tge first screw type, but was given an abundance of tge second type, I realized that the instructions were wrong, and you HAD to use the second type.2) Instructions lack instructional photos for when you're attaching the adjustable clamps. They show two photos that barely explain what to do, and the text form is hard to understand. I had to figure it out on my own. I did figure it out after a few minutes, but I can see some other people really not figuring it out and giving up.3) When the screw holes were punched into the metal side rails, they left all the hole punches INSIDE the bar. It turned it into a thin maraca. Remember those old handheld games where you had to move marbles across a maze and avoid making it fall into holes, all in order to get the marble to the end? Yeah... I had to play that, but with the hole punches inside the bars, and I was actually WANTING them to fall into the holes. I then had to use the include hex wrenches to push the hole punches through and out. It took me around 30 minutes to clear the rails!4) the screw clamps that hold the shelf to a desk are basically a bolt with a plastic notched handle for you to grasp onto and tighten them. On one of the clamps, half the plastic was broken off. At first, I thought that I somehow did it, but I realized... there's no other half ANYWHERE. This means the handle broke at the manufacturing facility, and was then packaged... BROKEN.What the heck!?Overall, the shelf seems to be holding up ok. It's not great, but it will work for my needs. I don't know if I'd recommend filling the shelves up with serious weight, like dictionaries, encyclopedias, or text books. The wood will either bend or break, or the screws will tear themselves out of the wood. Lighter weight will be ok.
