Modern Japanese Crochet: Classic Stitches Made Easy

As expected

This crochet pattern book is not for beginners, but it is unique and challenging in a way that is hard to come by with many modern crochet publications. I enjoyed learning about how Japanese crochet patterns are written- primarily through diagrams and illustration- and I think the examples from this book are well formatted and clear. If you are looking for a fresh take on crochet, want ideas on how to challenge yourself, and enjoy reading pattern diagrams- this book is a must-buy! As a bonus, the patterns are for practical items like bags and wearables. My only point of contention is that a few pictures of stitch swatches were done with white yarn on a white background. It's visible, but I think the stitch definition would have been a lot clearer if they had chosen to use a different color.

The 1 star rating is because of the format not the book itself.I hope they issue a new digital version of this. I would really like to use this.

This is the only kindle book that I bought that was not compatible with my ipad.

I was very disappointed in the charts for the patterns with multiple colors. The charts on pages 6 & 7 are with two colors are great but this format did not carry out in the rest of this volume as color was used to indicate the different colors on pages 6 & 7 (which are swatches) but not for the actual patterns. The charts for the actual patterns with more than one color are extremely difficult to see when to change colors. The charts were not colored but indicated by width or various shades of gray which are extremely difficult to see. If the charts were actually usable, my rating of this book would have been much higher. I got this book from my local library to decide if I wanted to purchase. I have decided that I don't want to buy this book in spite of the unique patterns.

I like learning new crafts and this was perfect
