Absolutely recommended
Excellent product. Simple and effective design, easy installation, high quality, perfectly fulfills the purpose.Installation: remarkably easy. Use a screwdriver to loosen up (no need to fully remove) your deadbolt plate just a couple of millimeters out so you have room to slide the Flip Guard in. Rotate as needed in order to align with the deadbolt lock while in the “locked” position, then use the screwdriver to tighten it again. Thats it.Performance: Perfect. I locked my door with both the deadbolt and then with the Flip Guard, and it was not possible to unlock the door with a key from the outside. It was not possible to unlock the door from the inside either while the Flip Guard was in the locked position. Even when that test seems silly, I did it to test how firm/reliable the system was, trying to check for any chances for it to slip or get rotated after repetitive or strong enough attempts. It didn’t move not even a bit. The system is steady and reliable when properly installed.Error-proof: some people have asked about the Flip Guard getting locked by accident after closing the door. If you install it the right way, that being with the Flip Guard pointing downwards while in the unlocked position, it is physically impossible that it gets locked by itself against gravity. But even if you install it the wrong way with the Flip Guard pointing upward while in the unlocked position, the “pivot” system is not loose, so it will never get locked because of gravity (check my second picture for better understanding). It doesn’t move freely, you have to push it from one position to the other, which makes it safe. If anyone is concerned about it getting unlocked accidentally, notice the small magnets (four little circles in the picture) that keep it fixed in the locked position. They are not potent magnets that would move the lock by accident, just potent enough to keep it in the right position when locked.Price: I don’t even remember how much I paid for the Flip Guard, because honestly I don’t care. This is a simple and effective security system that is reliable and easy to install. This is the peace of mind I was looking for, and I found it. In any case, I know it wasn’t expensive at all for what it does, otherwise I’d remember the price.I decided to write this detailed review because I am highly satisfied with the quality of this product. No one asked me to do it and I get no benefits from doing it. I do sleep better at night knowing no one can open my door, not even having a key.

Best Deadbolt Guard Device on the Market
I bought this, along with two other types of lock guards, to use in my new house until I could get all the locks changed, because I was concerned that the previous owners (not to mention their kids, family members, friends, housekeeper, etc.) might still have the keys. Of the three types of guards I tried, this was the most effective. The Flip Guard is easy to install (simply loosen the screws of the deadbolt, insert the Flip Guard behind the dead bolt plate, and tighten the screws back). It's easy to use (lock the dead bolt and flip the guard closed over the top). And in my experience it's completely effective (even with a key, the deadbolt cannot be unlocked from the outside when the Flip Guard is engaged). The other guards I tested were the Super Grip lock and the deadbolt lock secure (a small metal piece that attaches to the door frame and flips over the deadbolt plate when it's locked). The Super Grip was effective but installation is slightly more time-consuming and complicated, which leaves a lot of room for error. The lock secure plate takes more time to install and feels flimsy compared to the Flip Guard. In all categories (installation, use, and effectiveness) the Flip Guard is my favorite. The price of this one was higher than the others, but it was worth it. I wouldn't hesitate to choose the Flip Guard again.

Flip Guard Satin Nickel
I like how this simple product looks and operates. Installation was very simple and took less then a minute simply using a philips head screwdriver. The satin nickel matches my deadbolt and really blends in. It uses a friction method to stay in place, so my only concern would be how long will the friction last. The flip guard will keep your deadbolt locked even if the person outside has your key. Great home security product. I will update my review if the products friction changes. Note: install your unit with the hinge below your deadbolt, so if friction gives out, you won't accidentally lock yourself out.2 Year Update: I was concerned about how long the friction would last, but after using it daily for 2 years its performs just like new. We sleep much better at night knowing we can't be lock bumped or that someone who had our front door key could not get into our house with this unit engaged. I would have paid twice the price I did knowing the level of security such a simple product could provide that was so easy to install! If you don't know what "lock bumping" is.....look it up on Youtube

Best Of The Bunch
The Flip Guard went on easy enough once the lock flange was loosened up more than I thought it would need to be to slip under it. When all lined up it fits perfectly, with the clasp going over the locking knob and nothing even hits or rubs. Once tightened down it looks like it is actually part of the original lock and is very tight and secure. Mine fits so that the hinge on the clasp is at about the 8 o'clock position, which is fine, and could never accidentally close. (That was mentioned some place, but the hinge on these is very stiff, not loose at all, and mine wouldn't accidentally close no matter what position it was in, though possibly with time they loosen up, so it is best to mount with the hinge in between the 4 & 8 o'clock positions to avoid accidental closure.) Also, this thing is very heavy duty, much more than it needs to be, so no worry there either.Of the several devices I looked at this one seemed to be the best one all around, and is, because it mounts easy without altering your original lock, it's simple to set, is strong enough to do its job, it doesn't look like some cumbersome add-on, and sells at a reasonable price. So, because of these reasons it gets 5 stars, period.
