Fantastic Knife
Cold Steel has another winner with this one. I am a bit biased, I am a Cold Steel fan after all, but I give a fair shake to every product I get whether it be knife, guitar, or gun :) So let's get into it:Pros:-It is a time-tested design (after the Ka-Bar) with an improvement in strength. Instead of having a rat-tail tang, it is full tang. Added strength over a kabar. It also has a thicker guard, which I think is more preference.-Along with what I just stated, the blade is a tank. It is a solid thickness, in D2 steel, and especially with the tanto point, you would be hard pressed to break this blade.-It has a fair amount of belly, especially for a tanto blade. Good for slicing-It is ridiculously comfortable in the hand. Glad they didn't go too classic with the leather stacking (which I still love on a classic blade). But this is a handle that isn't going to wear out like the Cold Steel SRK, the texturing may wear a tiny bit, but overall the solid rubber I think will last forever (you can always had some athletic tape as well).-Value. Plain and simple. A giant hunk of D2, a Secure-Ex Sheath, and well designed for $60? This isn't Sk5 or Aus 8 or 4116. This is a high quality steel. It is TOTALLY worth it.Cons:-The Sheath... Okay listen, I know I just added that as a tenant of the "Pros", and I am usually a huge fan of the Secure-Ex Sheaths, but this one lacked retention. It there is a ton of rattle, and it doesn't retain the blade nearly as securely as I think it should. This can be mitigated, and I'll also be buying a leather sheath just to have one, but still, come one Cold Steel, give us proper retention!Overall, even with the sheath issues, I think that this is a home run for Cold Steel. VASTLY superior to the version in SK5 or 4116. It is a fighting knife but I have used it for everything from making kindly to batoning and it works like a charm. Great overall utility/fighting knife. Grab one, and mod it like I did. For those of you interested. I cut off the top guard, and sanded down the black coat to make this look so wicked. Thanks!

Is my new backcountry knife
Nice heavy duty knife with good steel. Easy to keep sharp and a nice full tang heavy duty blade. Not a buschcraft artsy knife, but a sold knife for daily chores. Fire-starting, feathersticking, woodcraft, food processing, etc. Does it all very well. Doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Will strike a good spark from a ferro rod.

A beautiful beast of a knife.
I purchased the Cold Steel Leatherneck Tanto Point in D2 steel after determining that I needed one knife that could take whatever I dished out in bushcraft and could also serve me well in personal defense. The Cold Steel Leatherneck Tanto Point fit the bill. This blade is a work of art--a perfect balance of form and function. It not only is aesthetically beautiful but it is built like a tank and feels balanced in one's hand. It has a very natural, nonslip grip. But its understated beauty and finish quality belie a dark beast within. Make no mistake, this blade is a punisher. It can do what it has been designed to do...and then some.I have not yet put it through its paces, (since the first knife I ordered will be given as a gift, and my own knife is on the way), but I will be testing it out on some large, hard pieces of bamboo when it finally arrives.Cold Steel has certainly caught my attention over the last couple of years with some of the exceptional knives it has produced; of the knives that they currently make, I consider this Leatherneck Tanto Point and the Cold Steel Tai Pan among the most beautiful production knives that you could buy. Get this knife, and you'll wonder why you've waited so long to own one.

Built extremely well with a lot of thought put into it
As a young man growing up in the country, we did a lot of activity outside and I always carried a knife now as a marine I carry and collect knives especially tactical combat knives. if I were to take a knife into combat this would be the knife I would take for a primary heavy duty Tactical large Blade.Everything about it screams durability. It's Razor-sharp full Tang and the grip can't be beat i know a lot of people may or may not like the cold steel blades, but they hit this one right on the money. The case Is very durable and holds the knife securely. One thing I do with most of my blade's cases is at a leather strap so that I can horizontal carry on my belt especially appendix carry as you can see in the photos

Cold Steel made a home run!
This is only my second Cold Steel purchase, and I am amazed on how beefy and sharp this knife is. I did some light leather strop just to touch up the edge. This knife is just what you would want in a protection tool, for close contact. If you know how to use a knife, this can save your life and should not fail you. I only have a few knives that are even close to the build of this one, and the cost was more than double this one, a medium halfbreed tanto and the USN mk 3 mod zero, and neither of these have as thick a blade as this Cold SteelI will probably buy another one as I like to do some custom finishes with cerakote over camo design work.

Super nice knife for what I wanted
The only reason I did not give 5 stars Wass that fact that it is made in Taiwan. It is perfect for what I was looking for. I ride motorcycles and I wanted something that I could carry in the laces of my vest. This fits the bill. I was looking at a Kabar but chose this knife after reading reviews and comparing them both. Feels very sturdy, sharp out of box, $20 less to a similar Kabar. Would definitely recommend.
