Q: How come the penne pasta went up in price by over 5$ for Thisbe month in comparison to my last months order? Almost doubled in price?

Well I'll say it has to do with the seller: Supply & Demand. In a case like this you report the problem to Amazon as a Pricing Problem via their link in the product purchasing page

Q: Does it have artificial coloring in it

Barilla Fully Cooked Ready Pasta, Penne. Wanted to try but didn't want 6 package so I picked up a package at Walmart and followed the microwave direction on the package. When I removed pouch from the microwave there was a smell, which I assume came from the packaging; but when I emptied the penne into my pot of sauce I was truly shocked! The pasta was the size of half cooked MINI Penne and the color was brown like uncooked whole wheat pasta. The texture wasn't hard or crispy but definitely NOT el dente either, it was down right CHEWY and TOUGH! The picture perfect WHITE Penne on the package is very deceiving, as that's not what comes out of the pouch! Just the thought of anyone giving this product any stars upset my stomach!

Barilla Pasta that is sold in the United States is made in our plants in Ames, IA and Avon, NY, with a few exceptions. Barilla Tortellini and Barilla Oven Ready Lasagne are made in Italy. Our Barilla Italy products state "Product of Italy, Distributed by Barilla America, Inc." on the packaging.

Q: I've recently moved and am having to learn about high altitude cooking. Are the microwave directions different for 5000 ft about sea level?

Due to the faster evaporation of liquids at high altitude, microwave cooking may take less time than at sea level. There are exceptions: meat, poultry, pasta, and rice require the maximum cooking time.
