The Bloody First: A History of the 1St Regiment of Virginia Volunteers in the American Civil War
T**N
A remarkable read showing the personal side of these men who made up the First of Virginia.
What makes this historical story different from the thousands of books written about the civil war is the personal touch to the men and boys who made up the regiment. Mr. Powell puts us in the camps, the marches, and the battles by remembering the people and how they felt. He talks about the camaraderie and the love these men had for each other. I found myself engaged from the first page wanting to learn how these men fared during this bloody chapter in American history. All civil war historians need to read this book!!
