We started using this as a back to a chair but ended up using is as a floor rug as our dogs loves snuggling in it. Genuine sheepskin and super lush. High quality leather. Great value as I have seen similar skins go for much more.Smell disappears after a week or so. Would recommend.

I have several faux fur blankets and throws from places like Restoration Hardware and Pottery Barn. They are nice enough, but you can never really disguise the fact that the “fur” has a synthetic feel to it. This genuine shearling “rug” is the real deal. The backing is the leather suede of the skin and the nap is brilliant white soft wool. I used quotes for the word “rug” because I would be afraid to actually walk on it to make it dirty. It’s also pretty small, measuring approximately 2’ x 3’. It would make for a nice little soft place to set your feet I suppose but I use it as an accent throw over the arm of my black leather pub chair. When my elderly mother comes to visit or I am feeling a little chill, it warms the lap quickly. The price isn’t offensive either, not like a Resto-Hardware throw.

My grandparents had a sheepskin, when I was a kid I loved petting it. They had it because it was recommended for helping relieve pressure points while sitting. Well, now I'm old(er) and could benefit from such.This doesn't feel the same as I remember theirs, though still soft- treatments have definitely changed over the decades. I was doubting it was real at first, based on that memory feel- and I couldn't clearly see the skin texture at the base of the fleece. It didn't pull out, and the more I examined the pelt, the more I doubted memory. So, it has a different but still good feel.The color is pretty natural looking and the size is true. I intend to keep it as a chair cover, ideal for my intended use. I noted in the product care section that the manufacturer recommends dry cleaning when needed. I can't speak to other areas, our local cleaners all send leather & fur out to a subcontractor for servicing. Generally, for us it means if you send it out it's going to take about a month to come back.As these are touted as made from sheepskins from Australia or New Zealand, and clearly marked as made in China; I suspect these are made with skins from farm-raised sheep for meat (Australia has a pretty big export of lamb).

I am using this rug on top of my padded coffee table and it looks so posh and inviting.The furriness is so full and fluffy, I didn't think it would be so soft, I remember people getting sheepskin seat covers in the 1990's and a they all felt a bit scratchy, a big improvement over vinyl seats but they were not this soft. This rug feels like rabbit fur but longer.Unexpectedly, my cat doesn't like it. She jumps off of it or sits on the side of the coffeetable to keep from stepping on the fur, it is so strange but I really can't object, my cat is a longhaired black cat who sheds a whole other cat about every three days, so not have to brush out poofs of cat fur is amazing.If you are like me and frequently have cold feet, this rug will warm them up.It arrived sealed in a heavy duty plastic package but it only took a few seconds of shaking and fluffing for this rug to look like it does in the pics. It is so beautifully white and there was zero smell.
