For a $500 phone, you'd be hard-pressed to find an Android 8.0 (Oreo) phone better than this one!
Bought this phone as an upgrade for my mother, who is currently using a BlackBerry Z10 (yes, *that* BlackBerry Z10; y'know, the one the BB10 operating system on it?). She doesn't like small screens, and doesn't have a preference between iOS or Android, but I wanted a phone that could fulfill the following (in order of importance):- doesn't break the bank (pretty much disqualifies all Apple phones, sorry friends, I don't have that kind of money to drop)- near-stock OS (for Android, this means 8.0+; none of this 7.1 Nougat nonsense)- great battery life - on standby, this means last 2+ days, since my mother can forget to charge it before bed sometimes.- half-decent camera - must have either EIS or OIS- expandable storage and/or second (dual) SIM - so I can give my mother an international data SIM that she can use while she vacations.- fingerprint reader in a non-stupid area (not on the back or front - this eliminates 99% of Android smartphones, as far as I can tell) - not a deal-breaker but it's annoying to have to unlock with your face or something these days.Bezels or not don't really matter in this instance - I just wanted the absolute best phone that would fulfill those requirements, and ideally, keep the price reasonable (<$600 USD after tax / shipping / screen protector / case costs).Even after only using it for a week or so, this phone has been an absolute pleasure to use. The 960fps slow-motion feature is super fun and super random to use in everyday scenarios (like filming cars moving in slow motion under a highway bridge!).The only gripe I have about the international version is that, even with the adapter to the NorthAmerican-style plug, the charger doesn't seem to work. The included charging cable was fine, but I had to use another USB-A wall plug to be able to charge my phone.I'm impressed by the battery life on this one, too - even when I had all of the sensors on, and with a couple of hours of screen-on time, I was able to finish the day with over 85% battery life - which is amazing, considering this phone only has a 2700mAh battery built-in (non-removable, another gripe I have). The waterproofing (true IP68! Woo!) has been more than pleasant - I live in Seattle (where I am testing this phone), and it rains *a lot* here. I have not been once afraid to whip out my phone to do something in the pouring rain, and even dropped my phone once in a massive puddle, with no problems!I can't recommend this phone enough for a budget choice - I'm more shocked that people are still hyped about the OP5T or the Essential Phone (for the record, I bought the Pixel 2 XL for myself, and my secondary is the Essential Phone, since it was on sale during Black Friday; P2XL is my favourite, but the XZ1 is miles ahead of the Essential for practical use), given how good of a phone this one is.I'm excited for the XZ1 Premium, and the XZ2 in 2018 - if they go even further, it'll be a hard sell between the Pixel 3 XL and the XZ2 lineup.

Over all great phone with good price!
My Sony Z5 was broken down, and I decided to get a new Xperia. It's another upgrade for the series, better waterproofing, better processor, better graphics quality, better camera, etc. Lastly, I was amazed by the price, because it just came out on August 31st, 2017, and it was under $500 already when I purchased it. (I think it was $700 something when it came out.)The phone that I got, I believe it was from Hong Kong. It has a little warranty card only for Taiwan and Hong Kong area. The charger is different, but it does include an adapter with it.Also, make sure you peel off the sticker on the phone; I thought my speaker was broken with really low volume. It got better after I peeled it off.

photos/videos restored to it and it runs like it's fresh out the box
I'm astounded! This is the fastest phone I've ever had -- it outpaces my galaxy S8, Pixel & surprisingly the Iphone 7 far!!! (I took some time to test it with my co-workers phone. Bare in mind that I am testing it with all my apps, messages call log, photos/videos restored to it and it runs like it's fresh out the box... and with Oreo?!!!! Surprise surprise! The first phone to come out the box with oreo. The screen... Oh my, it's beautiful and bright. I thought I had it all, with my s8, not so much. The XZ1 outclasses it. I really like Sony phones, but I never thought I'd be so honestly blown away. It's all around beautiful -- design and all -even with a chin.

Fast, Responsive, Smooth Running Phone!
I personally am a Sony Xperia device lover, but even if you are someone who's coming from a Samsung or LG or any of those other phone companies the Sony Xperia XZ1 is a great phone, it's fast, very responsive and I believe it can even take advantage of Android 9.0, I don't know for sure cuz I haven't updated. It's a great phone for its price and would highly recommend it, you pretty much get Samsung note 9 speed for half the price.
