Abraham Lincoln: Selected Speeches and Writings: A Library of America Paperback Classic

Bought this as part of our study for American History for my homeschool highschooler. Never got to this read this when I was a kid. Primary sources, instead of textbooks containing misinformation and little blips of dates and text, is the way all students deserve to learn. For example, did you know the Emancipation Proclamation did NOT "free the slaves" as is commonly written in textbooks? This book is enjoyable to read, and shows what an amazing writer and speaker this self-taught lawyer was really like. And a President who writes and delivers his own speeches? Unheard of today. Love that my students found pleasure in reading and discussing Lincoln's ideas.

I love everything Lincoln so how can I say anything bad about this collection?

I bought this for myself and a new law student. If you are a Lincoln fan you will enjoy this!

I like it not love it . Hard to find specific speeches.

Interesting to have an insight to the character and life of Abraham Lincoln in his own writings. Have not read it all yet.
