Rimmed tanks NEED A SPACER
If you have a rimmed tank you NEED a spacer for this light to attach to the tank. I cut some acrylic pieces which came out to be 10 mm thick. They really should upgrade the design because many people have rimmed tanks. The description says it fits a rimmed tank but it definitely doesn't work. Otherwise this light is awesome. It simulates sunrise, sunset and moonlight automatically. It is really cool!

Works Good But Some Updates Are Needed
Pros: *Very Bright *Dimmable *Timer *Daytime and Moonlight *Color Switching *Fair price Cons: Brackets (the one the holds the light on the tank and the one that holds the light onto the main bracket) the are very annoying because they don't stay on place once you set them up, they are loose and light tilts forward, my tank is a rimless tank, I wish the power cable was in the middle instead of the side, I purchase the light with just one bracket not two I guess it makes sense for the light with two brackets to have the power cable on the side but not for this one. I used a hot glue gun to glue the brackets and keep them on place before putting it up on the tank this way I managed to make it look nice now it looks amazing but you should not do that to make it work though they should make it better and timer instructions are a little confusing... they have a lot to improve but if you are handy you would make it work and look great, probably.

Beautiful lighting modes by Hygger, but..
I rated this 3 stars due to several issues I've hard with my light, though I wish there was half stars so I would give 3.5. When I received the unit the buttons on the controls were extremely hard to press in order to change through modes or turn on. So hard in fact that my hands hurt trying to press it. The only way I was able to remedy this defect was to press it with something hard and sharp, which then left an indent in the controls and then made it easier for me to press it with no issue. I realize my light was probably the odd one out with this issue. The plastic screws that hold it up are extremely hard to twist into the holes of the base or out of. This also hurts my hands. I wish this light didn't cause so much physical pain towards me. It also doesnt have a timer like the large Hygger I have on my 40 gallon tank, in which you can press the button to phase through the cycles of the day. The timer is self-paced so you have to set it at whatever time you need it to accordingly because it only has 3, 6, and 9 hour timing options with no way to skip through different phases of a 24 hour cycle like my larger other model does. This is something that I really wish this model had. Nonetheless, it's a beautiful light, and Hygger's products are usually of very top quality. There are just a few quips I have with the way this model was made, but it still serves as a fine bright light for planted aquariums. Hopefully others don't face the same issues.

Lights up Aquarium beautifully
This is a very good light. I have been using it for 6 months. The main full spectrum light works great with six levels of intensity. I usually keep it at about 3 or 4 during most of the day. The highest setting is exceptionally bright. The lower settings are good for the evenings. The moonlight settings work well. I usually set it for blue in the late evening and early morning hours. There are also 6 levels of intensity with each moonlight color setting. I wish the moonlight colors could go brighter, but maybe that's because they are meant to be moonlight. You do have to cycle thru the colors to get to the one you want, I always feel like I am freaking out my fish sort of, when I do that. The negatives: It was somewhat challenging to set up. I found it hard to attach the main body of the light to the arm. I did get it eventually. Also, attaching the light to my fish tank, took some creativity. I have a rimless tank. On the outside of the glass, I put a piece of bike tire inner tube and then a cut piece of wood paint stirrer, to cushion the tank glass from the plastic screws of the light arm when they are tightened. It worked out well. You also have to adjust how far you want the light to come out into the middle of the tank and that was somewhat of a delicate procedure. This all worked out, but I think this all should have been a bit easier to do. I never really used the programable daylight to moonlight and back settings. The majority of the daylight is the highest intensity setting which I think is over the top for all day. I wanted to review this light because I am very pleased with it so far. It lights up my aquarium beautifully and the choice of daylight intensities is very good.

Rimless tanks only
Does not attach properly to a standard rimmed tank.

No more alge!
Fixed my fast growing alge problem with this light! The light that came with my mom's 10 gallon aquarium was to strong with no adjustable light settings this along with an imbalanced bioload(AKA not enough plants to light ratio) caused alge blooms constantly. This light being dimmable and being off the tank lid has caused my mom's tank to become crystal again. Always research before purchasing but for shallower tanks this was a must for me. Also pair with a kasa wifi smart plug and put the light on a schedule for between 8-12hrs a day for even better results on keeping alge down and a better tank for you fiah friends.

Light needs more improvement
I recently purchased the 19-25 inch light, which the length fits perfectly on my 45P ADA tank. However, I feel that the 18W power is insufficient for growing high-tech plants. I hope Hygger considers increasing the power to 20-25W for this size of light. Additionally, the plastic stand is a bit wobbly and could be improved. On the other hand, the overall height of the lights is excellent thats provide enough space in cleaning the aqaurium. If hygger work on improving this light, I believe this light could compete with other well-known aquarium lights on the market.
