Disney: Hocus Pocus & The All New Sequel (Young Adult Fiction)

I bought this book for my niece for Christmas and she enjoyed the book very much.

This book is so pretty! I love the way it looks and look forward to reading it even though I’ve seen the movies.. get it.. you won’t regret it.

I bought this book after watching the new Hocus Pocus sequel movie, to see if the book was any better.It was but only marginally.Thankfully the story is not the same as the movie, but it is definitely written with a younger audience in mind, this is the only reason I can think of for there to be a condensed version of the original movie in the book. I did read the novelisation of Hocus Pocus, although I might not have bothered wasting my time. However, the novelisation is superior to the sequel, which is very telling.Perhaps I'm just too old and too nostalgic for the original movie to have enjoyed this book as much as I should, or would have liked to.There were some interesting moments, the cliffhanger ending certainly offered something more and I would like to see where the story could continue regarding Billy Butcherson.The main reason, other than the writing style (which reminded me of Goosebumps and other juvenile books I enjoyed as a kid), that made me dislike this book is the introduction of characters that were never mentioned in the original film. Conveniently the Sanderson sisters have a fourth sister, Elizabeth, who is good. I find this kind of plot convenience lazy writing.Overall, I think younger readers will get more out of this book and enjoy the character descriptions, and the level of action/danger, which to me was a little tame and too drawn out.Edit: I just looked at the Amazon page and found that the target reading age for this book is 9-13 years. That explains a lot, however I think the book is rather too long for a 9 year old

Great book and great price! Big fan of the film and can’t wait to get stuck into the book as well. Must have for any hocus pocus fan

I could just imagine the characters from the film when reading it. I love it

Can't wait to give to my god daughter and my friends daughter at Christmas, looks in great condition
