This case is a beast!
This is so much better then the cloth bags, but they can get very heavy. Wish I had this years ago.

The best
Even though I know this case is made originally for drum hardware we got it to carry XLR cables, microphones and bunch of different stands. It’s very well made and protective. Also easy to open and close. We highly recommend this case to anyone looking for quality and sufficient space to carry backline or sound equipment stuff.

Seriously, forget any notions of going with a cheaper bag or case, and just get this. After going with a bargain hardware bag for a year, and watching it slowly fall to pieces (killing my back in the process) I finally bit the bullet and spent a little extra on a brand I trust. And I gotta tell you, I'm mad I didn't do it sooner. This case fits all of my hardware (I play a four piece with three cymbals + hats) with no problem. The construction is sturdy and so far the wheels can really take a licking. Through a month of heavy-duty touring this thing was as reliable as it was durable. The size was big enough to comfortably fit in a touring van without taking up too much space, but is also big enough that you don't have to take apart all your hardware to make it fit.If I had any gripes, it's that you still do need to collapse all your stands to make them fit in the case, and that my throne seat doesn't fit. But otherwise, I swear by this case and will never use anything but SKB from now on.

Why did I wait so long?
This review MAY be a bit premature, as I've only had the case a short while and have only used it on two gigs. But, so far it's awesome and am wondering why I waited so long to get this. I always thought having a hard case would be too cumbersome and might not fit in the trunk of my car. I used a soft bag with wheels for about 6 years. Eventually the wheels gave out, and the bottom of the bag ripped apart from being dragged over every kind of terrain. Finally the other day the zipper gave out so I knew it was finally time to replace it.If you have a ton of double-braced stands (and want to fit everything in here like a double pedal, large throne seat, etc), you might need the larger size. But if you have a fairly modest setup you'll be fine. The retractable pull handle is nice and seems sturdy. Also, being able to stand the case up on end is a plus too.

Super sturdy and practical, but not secure
I bought this case to transport a Roland VDrum electronic drumset as checked baggage in an intercontinental flight. It passed it's test with fliying colors. Everything fitted perfectly, including a VH11 (hihat pad) and the hihat stand (but the kick pedal didn't fit)When it arrived, the case showed signs of rough handling but all contents arrived perfectly. The case was not deformed or warped and the wheels and handle were in perfect condition.I was a little bit concerned by the fact that all the weight is carried in two handles in the top cover, and the top cover is held to the rest of the case by the two belts. So, when the case is being carried as opposed to being rolled, all the weight is bear by the belts which closure is a normal plastic backpack buckle (very sturdy though, but still) I think SKB should find a way of putting a sturdier link between the lower and top parts of the case (something similar to a pelican case closure, but not as complicated maybe)Finally I would have loved a couple of padlock eyes.Overall. Great product! Fully recommended even for air travel (although is not officially Air Travel certified or rated, I think)

SKB Does it Again!
I currently made the transition from a soft shelled Protection Racket case with wheels to the SKB Mid-Sized Hardware case. Being very pleased with other SKB products in my possession (Bass drum, multiple snare sizes, toms & cymbal vault) I figured it was time for an upgrade. Based on the dimensions and reviews, I was slightly concerned I would not be able to fit my required hardware in the case. Boy was I wrong! Here’s what I have in the case:(1) Pearl S930 Snare Stand(1) Pearl H2000 Hi Hat Stand(3) Pearl BC1030 Boom Stands(1) DW DWCP9900 Heavy Duty Double Tom Stand(6) DW Floor Tom Legs(1) DW DWCP3100 Drum Throne(1) DW DWSM912 Boom Cymbal Arm(1) DW DWSM912S Boom Cymbal Arm(1) DW DWSM798 DW Dog Bone...with room to spare.Needless to say I am very happy with the construction of the case, price and ample room for hardware storage. The real test is seeing how she handles over the next few show....

The Best Drum Hardware Case-Hundreds of gigs and counting
Best case in the world, there is not a better case out there. It has a lifetime guarantee. I have used these on the road for over 15 years and for hundreds of gigs in all types of weather. I have one at my school where my bands play 30-45 performances per year. My steel band at university also uses one, and I have my own personal case. It holds all the drum hardware for a very large drum set quite easily:five cymbal stands, large stool, hi-hat, Tom holders, floor tom legs, stick bag, foot pedal, and more. AND it easily fits in the trunk of a Honda Civic! The handle is adjustable which makes it easier for pulling, depending on the weight you're carrying. The wheels are high-grade rollerblade wheels that roll smoothly. Amazingly, the case, strap, and wheels are all guaranteed for life. I called them about a worn-out wheel and they sent me new ones within the week, no cost. They stand by their product. This case is the absolute best. Great price for a fantastic case!

I am able to get two boom stands , snare stand, throne(gibraltar air), hi hat, 2 clamp cymbal arms , tom arms, and kick pedal. It seems heavy duty enough. I live on the east coast of Canada so there is lots of snow and rain to drudge through. It seems to be holding up.

Just what I needed ..
I was looking at others that were a bit larger. I thought that I wouldn't have to break down as many stands. I was wrong. if it were any bigger, how would I fit it in my car? .. This worked great for me!

Highly recommended.
These cases are the dogs. I have three now, easy to move one you have loaded them and they can take the rough and tumble of touring. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Highly recommended.
