Levoit air purifiers avoid using UV-C light, an air cleaning method that research has shown can produce harmful ozone and secondary pollution. Please follow the details and FAQs below. Q: How safe are UV purifiers? The biggest issue with UV purifiers is that they emit varying levels of ozone. Even very small amounts of ozone in the air may result in chest pain, coughing, shortness of breath, and throat irritation. In fact, The World HealthOrganization (WHO) has issued a warning against people using UV light to sterilize their hands or any other part of their skin. Q: How effective are UV purifiers? Not very. Microbes have to spend some time in front of the UV light before they’re destroyed. The EPA explains that microbes must be exposed to the light “on the order of minutes and hours rather than the few seconds typical of most UVGI air cleaners".

Good product
So far I give it a 5 star. It was delivered next day. The size is good not to big but not too small that I feel it’s not working. In the instructions it says to put it on fan speed 3 for 20minutes so it can do a quick clean then lower it to speed 1. As soon as I turned it on it smelled like plastic but then it went away after a couple of minutes. I put my flashlight against it to see if it was working and it was, I could see all the particles in the air going into the machine. I made a video with the three sound speeds. I feel like you could do 3 for 30-45 minutes then put it back down to 1.

Reliable, Small-Space Purifier
This is still the least-expensive, but most effective, out of now five air purifiers I’ve bought over the years. I like to do the “flashlight test,” with every air purifier I buy, because combating dust in my older Bay Area home is the main reason I bother with these machines. I hold a bright flashlight beam up against the entry points to the filter and see how much dust is being drawn in. If a lot of dust is being drawn in, I know the purifier is a keeper. If not, then either the room I'm in is somehow cleaner than the rest of the house or (more likely) it's just not moving a lot of air. With the Levoit 300s, I can always see a lot of dust being drawn in. Levoit is a brand I've grown to trust. They don’t make ridiculous claims about their filters, square footage or CADR. You can count on the fact that their numbers are legitimate and independently verified. There are a number of features that make this purifier a great value. At $90, the 141 CFM is impressive. You can easily spend twice this and get the same CFM or even lower. It has a simple touchscreen display that can be blacked out with the push of a button (which comes in handy and night and is no small thing as most purifiers don't do this). It has a filter reminder that goes off whenever you need to chance filters. Switching filters is very easy, just turn the machine off, flip it over and unscrew the bottom, take out the old filter and drop in the new one. The size and weight make it perfect for a nightstand, and there's no doubt that it will draw in more air in an elevated position than it will sitting on the ground in a corner.I've only had to change the filter a couple of times in two-and-a-half years. I suspect this because I have clean air owing to the multiple purifiers I have operating.

Game changer.
I only just got this yesterday and used it last night for the first time but I feel compelled to write a quick review already. This thing is a game. changer. Ever since moving to Texas, I suffer from terrible seasonal allergies. I never have in my life until now (turns out I'm allergic to a handful of trees that are native around here. Fun.) Some years are worse than others but this year is baaad. For the past few weeks my mornings have had me waking up congested and unable to breathe, blowing wads of snot out of my nose (sorry!), and with a itchy/scratchy sore throat. First thing I do is take an allergy pill and wait in misery until it finally seems to kick in around mid morning. (I've had a terrible time finding meds that work too. It just sucks.) I don't know why I never thought to get an air purifier. I guess when I thought of air purifiers I'd always think of the fancy Dyson ones that cost hundreds of dollars. I mean, puh-lease. Not happening. Then I found this little guy. Had great reviews, was the perfect little size for our master bedroom (216sqft), and reasonably priced with reasonably priced replacement filters. In a plee of desperation I talked my husband into us trying it. It got in yesterday (quicker than expected, yay!). I immediately unboxed it upon getting home from work and plugged it in. It says you only need to run it for about 15-20 minutes on high to cycle the room but I set that little baby on high with a two hour timer and let it run. When it was time for bed, I set the 6 hour timer on sleep mode. The sleep mode is great. It's a lot more quiet than I expected. I still expected to be able to hear a little white noise from it (which doesn't bother me at all) but unless I lift my head off the pillow and really listen, I can only just baaarely hear it. And I have it on my side of the bed about 3 feet away. Our home air system is louder than it on sleep mode. If you enjoy white noise, you could probably just run it on low and be fine. It has a button to turn off the indicator lights at night too so you don't have bright lights keeping you awake if that's a problem for you. Anyway, I woke up this morning with NO allergy symptoms. None. No congestion, absolutely clear nasal passages, and NO sore throat at all! I'm blown away. I'll try to come back and revise this review if my opinion changes but after the first night and the relief I was FINALLY able to feel from my allergies this morning I absolutely rate this thing 5 stars. Worth every penny!

Cute, noisy, and didn't pass my match smoke test!
I just received this Levoit Core 300 air purifier today and I wanted to give my first impression. I've had it running a few hours and I am sad to say, disappointed.A little about me: I'm not an air quality expert, I just like clean air. I'm very sensitive to sound and light. I don't like white noise. I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to machines or appliances, unless I've had a few drinks, then who cares ?! Unfortunately, I don't drink anymore.I live in Los Angeles and I am always concerned about air quality even though we use a whole house A/C with MPR 1900 filtrete filters that we change (haha who am i kidding-my husband changes them) every 2-4 weeks. I'm allergic to dust mites and our cat, and we have 3 fur and feathered pets in total. Husband sees an easy way to stop needing so many filters but the pets are staying, sorry. I get the South Coast AQMD Air Alerts emails because I have too much time on my hands I guess, and the outdoor air is almost never clean. Currently, during fire season, the air is unhealthy for everyone. When we open the door, smoke comes in. I have (3) Winix 5300-2 Air Purifiers with True HEPA, PlasmaWave and Odor Reducing Carbon Filter (I do not use the controversial PlasmaWave feature). I have them running 24/7.I also have (1) Hunter 30090 True HEPA Room Air Purifier with "Quiet Flow". I rarely use the Hunter anymore because it is so loud. For the record, Winix makes a fine machine and I shouldn't really try buying anything else except for a couple of things: They are not pretty and the damn light is on all of the time! (Unless its on sleep mode. But i'm not going to leave it on sleep mode during fire season). It wouldn't be fair to compare all of their features because they are very different in price, size and function. But they do have a few similar features that I want to compare. The reason I purchased the Levoit is because it is small, attractive, and i loved that you can turn the light off. I've been curious about the Levoit brand and wondering if they could be as good or better than my Winix. I was hoping they would impress me as I wanted them for each bedroom and my office. I knew I was buying a simpler product than the Winix, but because of the before mentioned features, and because it claimed to have the same 24db noise level as the Winix, i got it. I figured if I got this small entry level one and loved it I may upgrade to the larger sizes and maybe even replace the Winix. Doubtful, but I was open. Now that I've had it a few hours:Pros:Its small and pretty. It's light turns off. Yay!!Cons:It's too loud. Not as loud as the Hunter but much louder than the Winix. The sleep setting which should be silent is not silent. I wonder if I got a bad one? Level 1 is as loud as the level 3 setting on my Winix and yet not as much air is flowing. You will have to turn up the volume on your TV if you have this running in your room. For fun, I did a quick test with a blown out match just to see it gobble up the smoke. But I was shocked to see the smoke move around it slowly instead of directly into it. I didn't have another match to try it again, but I will try it again. If its true that it cannot eat smoke, it obviously will be returned. And yes, before you ask, I removed the plastic from the filter before running it. Air is flowing out of it, just not very much, considering the noise.Because of the failed smoke test, I give it 1 star only because I can't give it zero. I will update this review after I test it again. If it hadn't failed the smoke test and wasn't so loud, I would give it at least 4 stars for attractiveness and being able to turn off the light, easy functions, and easy enough filter change. It also has a decent price and the replacement filters are affordable.

Filthy filter when it arrived.
I read several reviews saying they were given a used products instead of new one. I thought "these reviews have to be an anomaly. It won't happen to me." Well, my "new" air purifier arrived today and it wasn't new. As you can see from the pictures these filters are covered in dust and animal hair. I purchased the air purifier because they advertised it would kill bacteria and viruses. We have a family member who is sick with COVID-19 Symptoms, and we were hoping to put this filter in his quarantine room to help prevent the spread to the rest of the family. I'm not happy.
