Excellent Bit of Kit
This is a massive step up from the supplied dough hook, pun definitely intended. The doughs that I have tried no longer rise up to the top of the hook as they did with the supplied hook and the entire mixture is incorporated right down to the bowl base without any of the scraping that I had to do before and with minimal cleaning once the dough is done. As it is a massive lump of metal, do not run it past 2, and that might even be too fast. The only problem, a minor one, is that it is a looser fit than the KitchenAid beaters and can come off very easily when trying to clean it or move it in the opposite direction to the mixing direction after mixing, but it will stay securely in place when mixing. I wonder if this might only be a thing if you have the newer type of mixer without the spring/washer to push down on the beater? All in all, It is a worthwhile replacement, no adjustment is required, kneading time is noticeably reduced and the dough seems to be kneaded better and more completely when compared to the supplied hook.

Kneads like a DREAM, Heavy Solid Uncoated Stainless Steel
The media could not be loaded. TLDR: Buy it! It's expensive, but if you are a bread baker, just treat yourself, it's worth it!I got into bread baking at the end of Highschool and the beginning of college. I would bake bread on the weekends when I was home and enjoyed it a lot. I enjoyed it so much that I asked for a KitchenAid Artisan for Christmas one year when a local department store was having a door-buster sale with deep discounts (those were the days). Upon the first couple of uses of my new mixer, I was less than impressed with the kneading performance and its inability to incorporate the dry bits from the bottom of the bowl. The hook seemed to mainly mash the dough to the sides of the bowl and the dough would inevitably climb the hook and stop kneading repeatedly. When the hook was kneading it was laboring the motor of the machine horribly and causing the machine to flex the bowl and the mixer groaned and hopped all over the counter and seemed as if it was being damaged. This was so discouraging I resorted just to hand mixing and hand kneading my bread for years and years and the KitchenAid Artisan I wanted so badly for bread making just sat under a towel unused except for the occasional cake or cookie recipe. Recently I had been determined to get my use out of my mixer that I have had now for over a decade that has seen only very occasional use. My first stop was to look at the higher-end KitchenAid Mixers, you will note that they all come with a dough spiral as do all commercial bakery giant floor mixers as well. I looked at a few examples and that was the secret, the spirals push the dough down and knead the dough against the bottom of the bowl, stopping the dough from climbing and catching the dry crumbs in the bottom of the bowl in the process. Since the spiral is also not pushing against the sides of the bowl as hard, it also labors the motors and gears of the mixers much less. Most importantly the spirals kneaded the dough much more effectively and thoroughly, not to mention more quickly.I ordered this and gave it a shot. Wow! My mixer is about to go on active duty for the first time! It kicked but on the batch of dinner rolls, I made today. It was a 3 cups of flour-sized recipe (12 rolls) but it did amazing and I didn't have to stop the machine to scrape or adjust it while needed. I included the video above so you can see that awesome down spiral in action. It washed clean extremely easily, so easy it seems like a waste of space to put it in the dishwasher. It is heavily built of solid stainless steel with a satin finish and no coatings or finishes to flake off which is perfect! It is a darn spendy attachment, but well worth it to be happy with my mixer again.I would recommend this to others and have already done so. This would also make a great gift for a baker in your life.

Perfect for Kitchenaid KSM192 and Pizza dough Mixing - Life and a Time Saver
Bought it as the current Kitchenaid I own does not come with an attachment like it. The default dough hook that came with my Kitchenaid, when mixing the pizza dough, the dough rides up the hook, and would have to scrape the dough off the hook while mixing, all the time. Was almost going to purchase a pizza dough mixer, which would set me back $2000+, but came across this dough hook with high reviews. This dough hook fits like a glove with my Kitchenaid KSM192 Artisan like a glove - and made the dough mixing a much more enjoyable experience.Due to the size of the Kitchenaid (which is 4.7L), the dough hook, probably only allows you to mix a max of 1.5kg size dough, anything larger, you would still need to consider getting a pizza dough mixer for a better/efficient mixing experience. For now, it does the job and does it well. :)

Dough extension
So much easier than kneading the dough by hand!

So amazing
I got this because the paint on my factory dough hook from kitchenaid that came with my mixer had peeling paint. It was pretty old, I’d say at least 15 years. I bake bread about every other day and needed a good dough hook. This one looked good and so I took a chance instead of replacing it with the same one from kitchenaid (I figured, at the very least, no paint to chip!) and I’m SOOOOO glad I did. This is a million times better. Dough doesn’t creep up nearly as bad as it does with the other design. It has no paint and is ridiculously easy to clean. It’s much thicker and sturdier, and the spiral design works more effectively. If you are an avid bread baker, get this hook. You’ll love it.
