I have both the CAU Cheer Captain doll Alyssa and the Homecoming Queen Nicole doll (the latter purchased off of eBay but pics posted here so if someone is on the fence, they know what she looks like). They’ve got silky smooth hair, and are very sturdily built with nice legs, arms, and a plastic torso. They’re constructed like AG’s Wellie Wishers in that respect but with a more durable plastic.This company was started by a woman who wanted to celebrate the “magic” and allure of the historically black colleges and universities in the US. They’re based in Plano, TX, and are owned by an African American female entrepreneur so you can win three times by supporting this company.The HBCyoU dolls are a more affordable version of the Healthy Roots dolls but just as important and just as important for diversification of your toy box.

Beautiful doll!

Priceless watching my niece open this doll and say "she looks like me!!!" She just turned 9 & has never received a doll that really resembles her - hard to find up until these last couple of years without spending a lot! I was so happy to find this. Absolutely beautiful doll. Well made, gorgeous & soft hair! Not sure how she'll hold up to playtime without major tangles, but that's typical of ALL dolls. Stop thinking about it & just buy her!

Daughter is a double CAU alum and she put in her office. Just wish Alyssa were bendable or posable. She needs a display stand.UPS delivery was challenging and although they kept saying it was delivered it wasn't. Amazon sent replacement. 2 weeks after Christmas the first one showed up. What??!!

Doll would have received 5 stars she is pretty. Doll is a cheerleader and comes with no shorts or underwear. Takes away from the doll.

This was a gift to an HBCU student and she was so very happy with the doll.

Got one for my niece for Xmas and the doll is a beautiful inspiration for young black girls. Nice to introduce young girls to positive images bc all they see is City Girl activity and there’s so much more in this world. The only thing I disliked was the packaging. It comes in a brown box that has no clear view of the doll. Other than that, I’d recommend this doll! She’s true to size.

I purchased as a gift for my niece and she loves it .I haven't seen it because she lives in a different state .The price on Amazon was better than Walmart.

My Grandaughter is turning 24. This doll looks just like her, I don’t think I could have ever found a doll like this in Sydney, not that I wanted to buy her a doll but the resemblance is so striking I couldn’t resist. It arrived well before time and it looks perfect
