The Quarantine Princess Diaries: A Novel

Thankful for this story!
I enjoyed reading the first part of this story during the beginning of the pandemic. It really helped during that time. After some time, I still enjoyed the later part of the story now that it’s released. I’m also glad that the proceeds will go to support a good cause. Thank you, Meg Cabot.

Mia is back!!
I missed Mia and Michael. The fact that this quarantine book was an actual funny take on the whole lockdown we all experienced is great. I did feel bad that Mia was going through so much when she shut down her country. And she had to deal with all that ridicule while her husband was self-isolating. I still love that she is like any other person. You know we all wanted to drink all day too because we were being driven crazy by everyone around us.

Political Agenda with a dash of Genovia (SPOILER ALERTS)
The Princess Diaries series is beloved for a reason. I was so excited for this to come out, and ordered it at least 6 months in advance. However, instead of getting another fun and frothy read about Genovia during the pandemic, it was a political agenda thinly veiled through her most financially successful series. It was mask mandates, vaccine pushes, and coronavirus etiquette with a side of Genovia. It felt like a very deliberate "I'm giving the readers what they want" book--with references to things in the very early books in the series-Iceland. Beauty and the Beast, Judith Gershner, Shameeka, Perin, etc. I mean, Tina and Boris having relationship issues again??? That was tired in the last book. We saw VERY LITTLE to NO interaction with Olivia as a 16-year-old (her own separate book series was beyond disappointing), her parents role was very minor, (how is Fat Louie still alive?) Michael and Mias two children was CLEARLY written by someone who has not had children, etc. It was a whole lot of political undertones with a small side dish of the Mia we all know and love. Dissappointing. She clearly took a big risk to push her political agenda with her most lucrative book series.

Good book
This was a great book. It reminds me of what happened in reality with the pandemic. This is historical fiction.

Such a fun light read!
I read this fun, light novel not knowing that it was part 12 of a series and I hadn’t read any of the previous books yet, but you do not need to have the read the previous ones to enjoy it. This also surprisingly was the first novel by the author that I have read, though I have heard about her and her books for a long time. I am happy that I finally read one. Her writing is easy to read and the characters and storyline was fun and funny.Every now and then I crave a light book, something to go to when I’m needing something funny and easy to read. When I read the summary for this one, I knew exactly what I was getting into, and I was excited. How fun to read about a princess, one who is a mom of twins, and is somewhat flighty, is in the throes of the coronavirus (yet is completely uneducated and unaware of that actually means). Such a fun light read!

great book!
If you love the previous books you will love this one as well! I was sad to see it end and hope there will be more in the future.

I tried...
I gave it a chance because I enjoyed the previous books in this series as a teen. Far too political to be entertaining. Comparing how a tiny made up country handled the pandemic to a country with 331+ million people is just ridiculous. None of the characters felt like they had in the previous books, almost as if someone else wrote it. The sad part of the pandemic besides the ugly sickness no one wanted, was how it became more about politics then anything else. Unfortunately this book read more like a news article on CNN then a rom com. Obviously politics would be in her "diary," however it read more like yellow journalism. I give it an extra star for giving us all of the past characters a role in the book. Maybe right in the beginning of the pandemic this book would read better , unfortunately though I read it too far removed.

one of my favorite authors - easy to read - the author has quite a few books on Amazon. I'm just continuing my collection.

Oh Mia! Oh my! Such a good book!
What's not to love about her royal highness?! Ive loved Princess Mia since her first book was released and became an avid reader of Meg Cabots! This book is fantastic to read and follows on brilliantly from the previous one

A hilarious mix of reality and the fictional world of Genovia
This book is weird in the most perfect way possible. It's a little bit of history but then mixed with fictional characters living in a fictional kingdom. Although the pandemic wasn't the best time ever I've been laughing out loud more than once while reading this book and that's mostly because Mia is insanely funny while writing down her thoughts. Just like her friends are insanely ridiculous in the best way possible. And I guess that's the best part of this book. It's reuniting with friends. It's almost like coming together and talk through everything we've missed during those 2 years of not seeing each other.
