Its a bit larger in diameter than the original military issue & lf it lasts half as long its a good one

I'm still required to wear dog tags for my military duties. The standard military chain is 2.4mm but we're allowed to upgrade to 3mm I chose this chain because it specifically said 'Hypoallergenic'. I'm allergic to nickel and even though the standard military chains say 'nickel free,' I still react to something in them when I get hot and sweaty. I'm happy to report that my skin has no reaction to this chain -- for those of you who are sensitive, you know how great that is!Aside from the hypoallergenic part, this chain is pretty typical. It's sturdy, the clasp secures the end of the chain very well. It can be a little tight putting the ball into the chain, but that's a good thing. Chains like this aren't meant to clasp and unclasp daily. If you need a good sturdy 3mm ball chain that is hypoallergenic, this is a good one at a good price.

I got this as a replacement for the chain that my son uses for his Diabetes Awareness necklace. The first one broke when his sister tugged on it, and so far this one has been sturdy and is holding up. It has not irritated his skin nor has it discolored.

Based on the product information I selected this product with the expectation that the quality would exceed that of the average pull chain product I purchased at Home Depot. I learned that was not the case. The attached photos show average pull chain from Home Depot (the chain with the link) versus the "best stainless steel chain." Note the kink in the "best stainless steel chain" that does not straighten when pulled. I will keep the average pull chain link from Home Depot. Maybe the material is Stainless Steel, but my pull chain product has never rusted.

I am tired of other chains pinching me and pulling my tiny neck hairs. Stainless steel means it won't rust from sweat and I can sleep and shower without worrying.
