Abena Abri-Flex Premium Protective Underwear, Level 3, (Medium To Extra Large Sizes) Medium, 84 Count,14 Count (Pack of 6)

After using Tranquility's Premium Overnight Disposable Absorbent Underwear (DAU) for my 97-yr old mother (Alzheimer's) for over a year, I am so pleased to switch to Abena's Abri-Flex M3 (Medium Size, Absorbency Level 3). 1. Fit: Tranquility's DAU (Medium) was too loose at the leg openings, causing leakage, mainly when getting up in the AM. (She sleeps 12-14 hrs.) I had to use Medium because although only 105 lbs, with a small waist (29"), her hips are wide (36"). (Smalls were impossible to get on.) Abena's M3's fit snugly throughout, especially at the leg openings, yet are still comfortable all over. No leaks. 2. Absorbency: Abena's M3's are more than double the absorbency of Tranquility's DAU (Medium). Abena's hold 81 ounces of liquid, vs Tranquility's 34 ounces (without being too bulky)! At night, I would supplement Tranquility's with their Top Liner Super Booster Pads, plus their Booster Contour Pad (both flow-through), but they were not enough (totaled 62 ounces). I realize different companies measure absorbency in different ways, but this was a considerable difference, no matter how measured. In sum, Abena's Fit-Flex works perfectly for my mother, in fit and absorbency. No leakage. ADDENDUM: Tranquility Overnight DAU's are an EXCELLENT, high quality product, if they meet your needs. No hesitation to recommend them, if size/absorbency works for you.

I buy these for my mother-in-law who has incintinence that can range from a little dribble to full loss of bladder control. We initially tried "depends for women - maximum absorbency - size XL" and while those are just fine for the dribble days, they do NOT contain large amounts of liquid and leak very easily. I have even had them fall apart coming off and the liquid absorbing gel inside got all over the floor and it was a mess to clean up! I initially only bought one bag of these abena anti-flex air to try bc they are more expensive, but we haven't had a single accident since switching so I will be sticking with these. PROS: 1) 2 levels of absorbency and the most absorbent I have found on the market and they seem to absorb fast (the letter/number combo on the bag tells you the size & absorbency. ex.: L1 is large - level one aka "plus" which absorbs about 34oz of liquid L3 is large - level 3 aka "extra" which absorbs about 74oz of liquid 2) plenty of elastic to keep these pants up even when substantially wet and the pull up style is easier to wear for someone who still uses the bathroom whenever possible. Although difficult to change when soiled bc you have to remove your shoes, pants, etc., I still find it easier than putting a traditional "tab style" underpant on an adult who is standing up. 3) elastic leg cuffs prevent leaks...even watery bowel movements. Now that does not mean you've got all the time in the world and I don't know how well they would hold up if you sat down like that, but they'll hold long enough to make it to the bathroom without a huge mess. ALSO these have tear away sides to make cleanup easier and an extra tape tab stuck to the back to tape the diaper shut with after rolling it up. 4) wetness indicator is very useful so you can see exactly where the undergarment is wet. 5) my MIL had experienced some rashes and skin irritation while using the "depends" brand. That has cleared up since using the abena abri-flex air. These seem to keep the moisture away from her skin better and I don't notice any odor even when I know she needs to change. CONS: 1) the are kinda pricey at $1.41 each (depends were about $0.65). We do use less of these bc they are more absorbent and hold up better so it's not too bad. 2) they can be hard to open... it's like trying to open those little plastic bags in the produce dept! The trick is to open them from the leg hole and stick your hand through. Easy enough for me, but my MIL has Alzheimer's and can't remember so she's always complaining they're stuck :/ and she finds it frustrating. 3) these do have a snugger fit bc of all the elastic so they are a little harder to pull up. On the one hand, that's what makes them stay up even when wet, but on the other, it's def harder for someone with dexterity, balance or flexibility issues to pull them all the way up. I have not had them tear while putting them on though which is good. All in all, if you can afford these slightly more expensive underpants, I would highly recommend them! Less accidents means less changing & less laundry for me and more independence and less embarrassment for my MIL. Win win :)

The most absorbent pull up incontinence underwear that I have found. A very good fit for me. I am overweight but fit, with a waist that is smaller than my hips, but a fairly flat stomach. My legs and my butt are more muscle than flab. So if you have either walrus thighs or pencil thighs these leg openings will probably not fit well, but they will stretch enough to fit most of the middle range of leg openings for the waist sizes listed. Unfortunately none of the brands of incontinence underwear that I have tried list the recommended size of your leg where it enters the leg openings, which is where I most often have trouble with both fit and leakage. This pull up is very comfortable all over. It stretches a lot in the waistband and over the stomach and hips and the elastic areas in the waistband, hips, and stomach is very wide and smooth so it does not dig in anywhere. The elastic areas in the leg openings are much narrower and less stretchable around the leg openings of all the pull up incontinence underwear that I have tried. These fit me great, but I have tried several other brands that have bigger leg openings and several other brands that have smaller leg openings. So it is useful to buy small quantities of different brands until you find one that fits you well and is absorbent enough for your level and type of incontinence. If you are not extremely incontinent you might find pads for women or shields or guards for men easier to use because you do not need to worry about fit. If you are not very active, you might get a better fit with briefs. But most briefs are not stretchy. So if a brief is tight enough to stay up while you are standing still, it can rip and get out of position and suddenly leak badly if you are running around or climbing trees or trying to reach for something. So before you try to find the right pull up incontinence underwear, make sure that a pull up is the best incontinence product for both your amount of absorbency needed, and your activity level. If you are very incontinent and very active, you need a pull up. You might decide that you prefer a pull up for comfort or some other reason. But if you are only partially incontinent or never do anything more active than take a walk, you have other choices that are easier to find a good fit. And badly fitting incontinence products fail unexpectedly. These pull up underwear work wonderfully well for me, although if I lose more weight I will probably need a smaller size soon. But they will not fit everyone with a waist size in the listed size range. No incontinence pull up underwear will, because leg size does not correlate well with waist size, and the leg openings are where most leaks occur when an adult is sitting or standing and sometimes even when an adult is lying down. Adults who are incontinent are not just oversized babies. We need products which are not just oversized baby diapers. By the way, older children also can be much more active and need better products if they are incontinent.

No leaks no matter how bad yet. Big problem is the box it comes in makes it obvious what it is. Its decent for bladder and light bowel accidents. But anything major it leaks.

I can't tell you how many different pull on adult incontinence underwear we have tried. Many have failed the test, leaking or just crumbling. A family member of mine has severe nighttime incontinence, as well as sleep apnea, so there is no waking her up, and she requires something that can hold quite a bit of liquid throughout the night. It was becoming a huge burden to wash sheets every night and she was soaked from head to toe. Not only is it embarrassing, but she was developing horrible rashes on her legs from sleeping in urine all night. As painful as it was for her pride, adult incontinence underwear (adult diapers) seemed to be the best option. We went through Tena ultra absorbent pads, Depends nighttime, Tranquility premium overnight pads, and Attends briefs. None of them could withstand the amount of liquid she would put out during the night and all of them ended up leaking. We were able to make die with a PUL cover up but it was irritating her skin so bad. I found these and despite the price, they have been absolutely incredible. Only one night she leaked and that was because the pad slipped in a weird direction overnight. Otherwise she's had dry nights and the pad is extremely absorbant. When it's taken off in the AM, it does not leak or anything. These are by far the best pads/adult diapers she has ever used. Highly recommend for someone who has a very high output of liquids. I also really like that they are super easy to remove. All you need to do is rip the sides and they come off. She hasn't needed to wear a PUL cover either. The inner pad is also very large, coming to the top of the front and back of the pull-up. I would not recommend this for someone with constant fecal issues, although there was one incident in that regard, and the pads did hold up well with no leakage. It was changed almost immediately after the incident so I can't say how well it would hold up overnight. They have small side "walls" that helped keep things in.

It is VERY rare I write a review. But I am doing it b/c I am compelled to help anyone who is going thru what I am right now. My 68 year old mother was recently diagnosed with dementia. On occasion she gets a UTI, which in a dementia patient is a completely different event for a younger women. They experience delirium, incontinence, and become very off balance. During my mother's last UTI - she lost all bladder control due to such elevated confusion. In addition there were a few incidents of bowel incontinence as well. In emergency, I ran to Walgreen and bought a variety of overnight adult pulls-up (Depends, etc). They were terrible. They leaked. They made her sweat profusely from all of the plastic against her skin even when dry. In an attempt to help my sanity and preserve her dignity, I google'd to death. I read a zillion reviews. And finally I bought these. BEST THING EVER. No leaks - no extra liner even necessary. No crinkling sounds. No sweating from gross cheap plastic elasticity. It was true to size and able to be put on lower in the front and higher in the back (what a women would need to sleep) without compromising protection. Which in turn could also be put on higher in the front and lower in the back to meet a man's needs. They didn't tear after numerous up/down for toileting. Yes, they are pricier. But well worth every penny. Less sheet washing. Less sore skin. I would never buy another thing to help my mother for this problem than these Abena overnights. Totally true to size and absorbency.

Item was for extra absorbence incontinence night time. At first due to thickness I thought this was the answer that I needed. Very sturdy psckage stated it was 4" larger than the size I usually wear, wrong. Though they are very soft and easy on the skin, i had to trim ot the legs not because they were too tight but they hing down on the legs to far. The crotch was so wide I could hardly get mine close enough to walk. The ellastic was very tight and when you pulled them up they actually ripped up the side. No matter how comfortable they felt I felt uncomfortable. These are more compatible to a mans body.. in lots of brabds women have to settke for aomething that states extra absorbency but are not really or get the way wrong fit. WHEN i trimmed the leg I DID NOT cut close to area where you tear to remove. These are the reasons fòr my review.

My husband has been using belted shields for several years (he likes being able to put them on AND take them off without removing his trousers). But lately they've not been absorbent enough, so I went shopping for pull-ons and found these. They have a broad waistband, about 5 or 6 inches high and gently elasticized. Like most or all pull-ons, they can be removed by tearing the side seams. Pros: VERY absorbent, leak resistant Comfortable waistband fits securely even around a pot belly Can be pulled down to use the toilet, and pulled back up if dry. Con: outer pants must be removed to put it on (unlike "adjustable underwear" or belted shields). When away from home, best take a belted shield along in case the pull-on needs to be changed. Expensive, of course, per each; but the extra absorbency can mean fewer used per day, and reduced laundry.
