Great book for teachers
This book is a great resource for beginning and experienced teachers. It provides so many different techniques that you can use in the classroom to promote total participation of the students as well as to get them to think in a higher-order fashion. They compiled four chapters worth of TPTs that are split into categories like "On-the-Spot," "Hold-ups," "Involving Movement," and "Concept Analysis." These techniques can be used for students of any age, including college students, and for any content area. The last chapter is full of TPTs that can be used at the end of the unit to review, summarize, and connect material before an exam. Also, there is a chapter devoted to helping teachers create a TPT toolkit, so that it will be easier to use these techniques at spontaneous moments in a lesson. If you are a teacher, then you should have this book in your resource library. If you are a teacher-in-training then you should read this book before you have a classroom. And if you are either, you should plan on using these techniques in your classroom on a regular basis and at least trying each one throughout the year.

to the easily distracted student
This book revolutionized my teaching. Its techniques allowed all my different types of students to participate... the extroverts, introverts, the ELL student, to the easily distracted student. Almost more importantly than that, I enjoyed the planning and loved the creativity of the process. After a lesson, I would feel energized and even more motivated to dive into the Total Participation Techniques book to see what else I would use! I am getting this book for all the educators I know, that includes teachers at my church. It is my contention that this book should be read and implemented by every single educator!

Excellent Resource for Any Educator
This book was required for a class I took for professional development and I found it FULL of very helpful, applicable techniques I can implement immediately into my teaching. It will function like a tool box full of activities and strategies to keep my students actively engaged in their learning. Will work with any age, any subject matter.

Best teaching book in years!
Purchased this book on the recommendation of a friend. I teach middle school students and this has transformed many of my lessons. The techniques are well described, well developed, and thoroughly differentiated for many (if not all!) learners. I recommend this as a MUST for teachers of todays active, easily distracted students that resist participating in class. What teacher does not have a class of those? Easily adaptable for all grade levels. My sister has even taken to using them with her college students. Really a great "must have" teacher resource!!

fabulous book
I learned about this book at a reading conference. It took me three months to go and buy it. The wait was well worth it. If you're looking for a way to get all of your students involved, this book is loaded with easy to use ideas that you can make relevant to anything you're teaching. The ideas focus the kids while also ensuring you have everyone participating....I am in love with these ideas and will use them in my classroom and also with my rti groups.

useful information
This book had many useful strategies to involve and engage students, but they seemed geared for intermediate students and middle school students. My primary students would have a hard time understanding and following through with many of the techniques and strategies. I would need to tweek them in order to use them for a younger audience.

Very good ideas!
I have been a teacher for close to 30 years. I am always reading books on ideas to make teaching more interesting and ways to get students engaged in learning. I really like this book because it is so practical. You can start implementing some of the ideas right away without much effort. I am on my second reading of this book.
