Two very powerful Mafia families in Russia the Molotovs and the Leonovs , both ruled by violent dangerous patriarchs , at the centre of this story are Alina Molotov and Alexei Leonov . At the tender age of fourteen Alina met nineteen year old Alexei at a gathering held at her parents home , there was an attraction but seeing first hand at how cruelly her father treated her mother Alina had vowed to stay well away from dangerous powerful men . Sadly that wasn’t to be as a year later Alina found herself betrothed to Alexei , although obviously way too young at the moment her gave her until she was eighteen before he’ll publicly make his claim on her . Alina could protest but she knows a man like Alexei always will get what he wants and that is her . Sadly though things don’t go to plan when a horrendous violent event at her family home rips her world apart although safe from Alexei for the time being , as he’s proved in the past he’s never really far from her but will she accept her fate ? ………goodness only knows but I’m longing to find out in book 2 .

Beautifully written with good characters and dialogue. Fighting for her freedom comes at a hefty cost. A very troubled girl, with parents who don't understand her, making all the decisions and planning her life with no consultation or consent. Enter the male interest, ruthless cunning and singular who's focus is now on the girl. Try as she might to escape her fate, he comes collecting with interest and nothing and no one will get in his way.Definitely entertaining and worth a look, looking forward to part two. Highly recommend.

I’ve been waiting ages for this book to come out. I finally get Alina and Alexei’s story. I now understand why Alina is the way she is. This is a wonderful book. The tension builds with every word, every chapter. By the end of the book I’m on the edge of my seat. My heart aches for Alina and everything that she goes through in this book. I can’t wait to read the next book to find out how Alexei is going to redeem himself.

Loved Alexei and Alana didn't have high hopes for this book. Sequels usually ain't as good as the first but I'm glad I was proven wrong on this one. Can't wait for the next book.

I always read Anna Zaires books, but for the first time I never got any hints about Alexie and how he felt etc. He was as unknown to me at the end as the beginning. Confused

I've vever read a book that is as captivating as this one. Alexei is so hell bent on claiming Alina that he will stop at nothing to get her. Great story as to how they spend their time doing the cat and mouse. It keeps you riveted right to the end. Well done Anna x
