The instruction page in the thumbnail view on Amazon says to trim 2" of sheathing from the cable end. Because I had the wire before the terminal ends, I got ahead of it and trimmed 2" off the ends. Well, the instructions that came with the plug says to trim 1.25 inch. After re-sizing the wires, I ended up trimming a little more (about one-eighth inch) off the sheathing to aid in installation, which is tight for 10ga wire. Have needle-nose pliers handy.

As good as Pass & Seymour. This Item was the lowest price, but the Highest Quality item that I could find. Beats paying 50 bucks at the big box store. I used it to make a cord for my welder, but it connects to a box for my generator to backfeed my house when the power is out. I was out of room in my panel so this bailed me out. There is a rubber seal in the housing to protect against dust. There are posts that ERRONEOUSLY report that there is no seal. 8/3 SOOW fit perfect and made an excellent cord.

Did not fit in generator transferswitch receptacle. Plug was toolarge in diameter. Could not use

I bought this for a generator cord I am assembling. Great quality and price. Journeyman Pro has a great product line. I will by there products again.

This is a solidly made plug. It is surprisingly well made for the price, which is a lot cheaper than the store bought ones.Different options for wire clamps to hold the main cable are nice.No obvious plastic flash or sharp edges.It is a tight fit into a transfer box outlet, but that also means it is not wobbling or loose contacts either, so I am ok with that.Would buy it again.

Easy to install onto the cable, however it does not fit snuggly into the receptacle. The weight if the heavy cable causes the plug to sag in the receptacle causing disconnect between one of the 120 V legs. A 90 deg plug may work better with a heavy cable.
