At an unconscious level, the message is that the scribner possesses a high degree of self-discipline and sophistication. And the message is all the stronger for becoming increasingly rare in the age of texting. Yes, you could argue it is elitist, but it is an element of elitism that almost anyone can master and benefit from. The first half is straight penmanship drills, single then joined letters, upper and lower case. Purchased on a whim since it was cheap in price and it is better than I expected- there are many pages of practicing uppercase and lowercase letters, practice sentences and even other learning activities incorporated into it.It also tips the user about if the child is right handed or left- my daughter is left handed and I'm right so I was glad to see it mentioned that.

Bought this book for my 3rd grader to practice cursive at home. She loved it. I later bought a different brand for my 1st grader that, in my opinion, is far superior (although a bit more money).

My son is learning to write in cursive and this book is helping him improve his calligraphy.
