Surprisingly good even for above casual use
I purchased several of these as a donation, letting people grab them and return them (like a library) at a popular whale watching spot. I also own Nikon Monarch 7 binoculars and have been comparing them (during bird/whale watching and general outdoor use). The optical quality is actually pretty good. When you figure out how to use them properly (IPD correct and you might need to hold it a bit farther away from your face since these do not have extending eyecups), then the field of view is actually quite good for such a small size, it does not feel claustrophobic at all.[edit!] I figured out why the optics look so good when the size is so small, these are definitely not 12x, they are about 8x[end edit]The sharpness is good and the chromatic aberration (or fringe) is surprisingly minimal. There is pin-cushion distortion but only on the edges of the view.I absolutely love that these front lens do not have any color filter at all, so the view looks natural. Do not go buy anything that has a ruby filter or otherwise look like it has a tinted front lens.I did not test these at night, I don't think I need to, my 10x42 can just barely see Andromeda and the Great Orion Nebula, I doubt these 12x25 can see any nebula at all. Stars, sure, but I wouldn't use these as astro binoculars. Still good for solar (be careful, you need to make a solar filter first) or lunar viewings though.Closest focus is about 11 feet, my expensive ones are about 8 feet, the ones in the $60 range are about 15 feet. This is good news. The mechanical components is a bit disappointing. Backlash develops quickly. This isn't a big problem because, annoyingly enough, the knob is so small that you might actually be forced to use your thumb, but because you are using your thumb anyways, you can compensate for the backlash easily. There are some other cheap binoculars that are not as good optically but are mechanically more reliable. The outer colorful rubber will get dirty pretty quickly. The lanyard is very disappointing, so disappointing that I was able to yank it out with only a moderate bit of force and was actually happy it broke right off. Literally I'm prepared to have these stolen on a regular basis, so I feel that the lanyard is just a liability. The instructions that came with it claim that it has fold down eyecups, this is false. For my purposes, this is actually good, since it's just one more part the general public might break. The instructions also have several spelling errors. Obviously it was written in China for use with many different products.I do wholeheartedly recommend these if you need something that's cheap. The overall feeling is that, if I forget my Nikon binoculars at home, I would be totally grateful to have these as a backup, not disappointed at all.

Works great, not just for kids!
These work great. Don't be fooled by the 'for kids' description. Possibly just because they are small, and kids can handle well. But they work just as good as any adult, and more expensive pair. And being so small, makes them super easy to carry, and use. I used at a track meet, and was able to see way farther than I needed for the stadium. If you are not a professional, these are all you need.

Great for kids
I have a couple pairs of these for my kids ages 7 and 2. The 7yo actually uses them and enjoys them. The 2yo likes to be included. The strap broke on the first one very quickly but I attached it to better lanyard. I just removed the strap from the second pair when I got it and and replaced it since I knew he would brake it again. The replacements have held up well to both kids.

This is the 2nd purchase
The first pair stayed with the other side of the divorce........ The toddler likes them and has fun with them.......they are stronger than you think.........just the right size for little hands...........and the coating can take a beating if they are dropped. They also have a little nylon case...... win win.

Perfect nice binos for all types of viewing
Bought two of these for a beach trip where we planned to do a dolphin siting trip. Worked great for that trip. Kids (8 & 10) kept up with them easily and could adjust fairly easy to use them once we showed them how. Now we toss them in the backpack for other trips too - the zoo, a local hike, camping. Easy to add to our backpack stash.

Great for kids
These are the perfect size for kids. They enjoy looking through the wrong end to make things smaller, but they really aren't too bad for the price. Don't expect high end optics, but for the kids to toss around they are great.

Kids binoculars
They work well kids love to use them at the lake to see boaters and birds. The only thing not very well designed is the string that they wear around their neck. It’s thin and breaks easily. Hard to repair
