Connection Type A - Hip Pad for Post-Operative Pain and Swelling

Prior review about wing flaw is not true with my hip pad
Worked beautifully for after hip replacement. The supposed design flaw didn't apply. All areas of the pad delivered COLD water without a problem. No leaks encountered. The fact that this particular pad is bigger and covers more area is a real advantage. Glad I chose this over the doctor recommended Breggs brand.

Make sure you verify the connectors before purchasing
Purchased a new pad for the ice machine due to the one that came with the unit getting a hole in it. Ordered from the site and when it came the connecting parts did not match up and started to leak everywhere. No online customer service or contact info for the company to resolve. Very disappointing as the machine costs a bunch of money

Almost better than Bregs with one design change...
This PhysioNatural-branded aftermarket cold water therapy (CWT) hip pad is 100% compatible with the Bregs Polar Care pump products. It offers a larger cooling area than the Bregs CWT hip pad, and it's significantly less expensive than the comparable Bregs product. However, while this aftermarket CWT hip pad is generally effective, the Bregs CWT hip pad is the better CWT hip pad of the two.Design flawAll CWT pads circulate water though internal chambers created by welds that direct cold water flow. A contiguous weld within the Bregs CWT hip pad forces cold water to distribute evenly across the entire pad surface. However, the non-contiguous weld inside this aftermarket CWT hip pad (blue circle in image) breaks the flow of cold water within the pad. Water is not forced though its two “wing” chambers, and these chambers do not become cold, which reduces the CWT effectiveness of the hip pad. The center portion, however, does become cold.UsabilityThis aftermarket CWT hip pad is secured against the body with one wide, long elastic band and Velcro adhesion. Similarly, the Bregs CWT hip pad uses two narrower bands with Velcro. Both brands connect to the pump via an insulated, crush/kink-resistant twin-pipe with leak-resistant quick-connections. Both brands' pad material is stout plastic with welded leak-proof seams.DimensionsThis aftermarket CWT hip pad is ~35% larger in surface area than the Bregs CWT hip pad. Depending on your specific application a/o skin real estate, the greater surface area may be an important consideration for your needs.Shop aroundThis specific form-factor of CWT hip pad is rebranded by a variety of resellers; PhysioNatural is simply one among many. Unfortunately, the design flaw is present in all at the time of this review. So shop around for the least expensive.Bottom lineThis aftermarket CWT hip pad could be a formidable competitive alternative to the Bregs product were its internal weld extended to create one contiguous chamber. Instead, as currently designed, only the center chamber becomes cold while the wings do not, which reduces its cooling surface area and limits its effectiveness as a CWT device. As a result, the smaller, more expensive Bregs product is the more effective CWT hip pad of the two.

Not as cold as we hoped
My sister-in-law let us borrow her Polar Ice device for my wife's recovery from hip-replacement surgery. We bought this because it was compatible and it was for the hip. When we plugged it in and fired up the polar ice, it began to fill with water and it was cool, but not what I would call cold. If any pressure is applied, the portion will not get water circulating through it. So, for us, this hip pad was a dud. We didn't experience any leaking. It just didn't get cold enough and didn't circulate well enough for our needs. We ended up getting cold packs that get super cold with freezing hard.
