Grease: A New '50's Rock'n' Roll Musical Paperback – January 1, 1972

This is the same book that can be ordered from the publisher, and is the line book for Grease. Same as what my director gave me to use!

I teach drama, and this is version I wanted. I can't stand the watered-down "school" version and won't use it. This is the original Broadway version with all the sexual slang and four-letter words. It's in the newer Samuel French format, which is somewhat easier to read, and has a nice cover. As with all Samuel French scripts, stage design, etc., is included in the back.

Be careful if you order this book. Note in the specs that it is only 8" x 5", which is OK, I just expected something larger. Worse than that was that I'm a Prime member, and it took voer 3 weeks for this book to arrive, even though is says "Sold by Amazon LLC" and there were plenty in stock when I ordered. When I complained after one week (Prime is supposed to be 3-5 day shipping) I was given some nonesense answer about why it was taking so long. It would have been OK if the site where I ordered the book from SAID ON THE WEB PAGE that it would have an extended shipping period, but look above...it says nothing of the sort. Overall, I like the book, but it was an unpleasant experience ordering this particular book from Amazon.

I bought this book to replace one that was misplaced after a local theater production. Item as described. Shipping was fast.

This is the original script, which I ordered at the same time as the school version, to decide which would be best to produce at our school. If you are planning for an audience of parents/students, in a school situation, the school version is definitely the better choice. If you are a community theatre and your target audience is older and/or more liberal, then the original version would be fine to perform, a it has sexual themes and some swearing.

Product description claims “music and lyrics”; there ain’t no music (eg, a score), so one can actually play the music!

Perfect size for students to write in and carry around at rehearsals. Is great for the stage manager and props and set folks too as it comes with the complete list of what each production needs.

Yes, the script of the stage play which differs in a number of ways from the film - and all the better for it! There is a sanitised school's edition as well - but this version is the one that you want!
