This was never a very good film. It has its moments though, and it's a fun watch.
Precuirsor to I Dream of Jeannie, and Burl Ives lifts all boats somewhat.

This Is The I Dream Of Jeannie TV Show Origin Story
This is a fun movie. I had only watched the I Dream Of Jeannie TV show growing up and did not know that there was a movie that was the template for the TV show. Big Spoiler alert: Tony Randal is Tony Nelson who is an Architect and engaged to Barbra Eden who Plays his girlfriend. The Genie is played by Burl Ives who's voice and likeness is later used as the Snow Man in the classic Christmas TV animation show Rudolf The Red Nosed Reindeer. Tony's best friend Roger is an artist and is married. The Genie keeps trying to grant wishes for Tony which leads to problems but the Genie will not give up and finds ways to make things work for Tony Randall. The Brass Bottle movie is not as over-the-top funny as the I Dream Of Jeannie TV show with Larry Hagman but it's still cool to see how it all began. I recommend getting the Brass Bottle. If you enjoy the I Dream Of Jeannie TV show, you will enjoy the movie.

Totally charming
What a great movie. I had heard of it but never got to see it. Everyone in the movie shined. Special effects for that time were excellent. Burl Ives was a surprisingly good choice for the genie. Barbara Eden and Tony Randall did well in everything they did. What a great segue into her signature role. I highly recommend this one. A Totally Charming Experience. Great price too!

A magical restoration of The Brass Bottle on Blu-Ray
I found this Blu-Ray edition to be a terrific restoration of a fun, vintage movie. Aside from the theatrical trailer for The Brass Bottle, there are 4 more trailers that are NOT mentioned on the packaging: Bedtime Story, Thoroughly Modern Millie, 40 Pounds Of Trouble, and Arabesque. As is common, none of the trailers have been digitally restored, though. The audio commentary track is somewhat disappointing, due to poor audio quality, but since it is a bonus item, I didn't rate this edition of the movie less than 5 stars.

"The Brass Bottle" was a procursive pilot for the television series of "I Dream Of Jeannie"
In the Brass Bottle, Burl Ives was the mischievous genie - Fakrash, who was willing to grant his bottle freeing master Harold Ventimore (Tony Randall) all of his wishes and then some. Barbara Eden's character Silvia played Harold's fiancée. The antics of Fakrash led to complicating Harold's life in hilarious ventures. It's a cuddling on the sofa entertainment and nice change from the television comedies we have to pick from now-days.

Hilarious, Fast-Paced Comedy...Takes Me Back to Childhood
I saw this movie as a child in the movie theater when it came out in 1964. The movie made quite an impression on me, because I still remembered scenes from the film. I hadn't seen it since then, so I was delighted to find it available on Amazon. Any movie with Tony Randall is always hilarious, and this one is no exception. Burl Ives is brilliant as Fakrash, the genie who is freed by Tony's character Harold Ventimore. Fakrash, unfamiliar with the modern world, tries to grant Harold's every wish to the point where crazy, madcap comedy ensues in his effort to please his master. Tony Randall is a master of fluster when his characters find themselves in zany or sticky situations. Whether Tony is in the starring role as in "The Brass Bottle" or supporting roles like the Doris Day/Rock Hudson comedies, he is always funny and always steals every scene he's in. Add the lovely Barbara Eden to the mix as Harold's girlfriend, and you've got a wonderful, funny movie that's great for the whole family. An interesting sidenote: this movie inspired the "I Dream of Jeannie" series that premiered in 1965, starring Barbara Eden. "The Brass Bottle" was formerly available as a DVD-R/Made To Order format that was priced higher, so I'm delighted that it's now available commercially and at such a great price.

Good fun
Good family film, not bad special effects considering its age, possible prequel to the I dream of Jeanie series, with Barbara Eden.

What you wish may not be what you want. Comedy
Great story. Great cast. Lovey story with great ethics within. This about cultures colliding, the ethics of getting something for free, wishing, and working and earning what you have. Add in the comedic misunderstandings and you get a fun movie for pre-tween and up.

The Brass Bottle
"The Brass Bottle " est un film qui est drôle, un architecte qui trouve un génie dans une vase, il cause beaucoup de problèmes à son maître, il le met dans les situations délicates en aliénant les relations avec sa petite amie et les autres.

For all Barbara Eden fans and fans of I Dream of Jeannie
A must have for fans of Barbara Eden. Barbara doesn't play the genie in this delightful comedy. Burl Ives is marvelous as the genie. This film was also the inspiration of the TV series I Dream of Jeannie.
