Johnson PumpMacerator Pump 12V by Johnson Pump

I bought this pump because of being a name brand and sold widely for decades. I probably have owned several and not known it. That being said, when I dry fitted the parts on this install I noticed the barbed intake nipple is smooth, not barbed, with a single raised bump at very end plus when I slid the hose on, it was quite loose. As everyone knows hose fittings are very tight and normally require heating to remove or install. Anyway, I was using the top dollar white non-stink sewer hose, none better and could not get it to seal. Yes I heated the hose in steaming hot water and double clamped it. The next morning it was dripping into the bilge. Rather than risk a future leak under the mates berh, I opted to switch to a very pliable leak proof but inferior rubber coupling for the intake connection. The pump comes with a combination 1 1/2" NPT threads or 1 1/2" hose nipple. I suppose using the NPT option would have worked but I didn't have room for the longer fittings. After tearing out my new pump I measured it to verify it is about 1/8" smaller than the other hose fittings. So FYI you won't be able to get that heavy white sewer hose to seal up to this pump. The 1" discharge barb is barbed and worked perfect.Let's update, I changed hose and stopped the dripping but it turns out the pump was leaking also. Upon reassembly I noticed liquid running out of the nose piece gasket. I give up, I'm shipping it back and unfortunately paying the freight too. Btw, Johnson never responded to my e-mails. I'm buying a different brand.Update again. The seller which was not Johnson quickly gave me 100% refund and paid the return shipping, how good is that?

Bought 2 pumps, one works great The other one runs but doesn't pump out much water!
