Tombow "Fudenosuke Soft Brush Pen - Black

I absolutely love this pen. The body is lightweight and has a nice shine to it, and the cap fits on the end of it so you don't lose it. The ink is a very nice black and can cover over pretty much any media, if you do the outline afterwards like I do. It does eat away at the paper if you put too much ink in one place though so you have to be extra careful but that's not really a big deal since you're only meant to draw single lines with it. It also doesn't bleed when used with alcohol based markers which is a big plus, all fineliner pens I've used so far bled like crazy as soon as I applied colour. The brush nib is stiff, but not too stiff, so you can get a very fine line using the very tip of the brush, and you can get to lines as thick as the length of the brush. Overall, very satisfied. Definitely buying again when this one runs out. Very good price considering the high quality of the product. Highly recommended.

I bought these TomBow pens from a recommendation. I've used fine liners for years and always referred back to them. These pens however are great, the ability to vary the line weights on my art/sketches without the need for going back over has essentially cut my work time down. The ink doesnt smudge all that much when applying alcohol markers but care should be taken. I wouldnt say the ink is waterproof but definitely resistant providing the ink is completely dry. Only real issue I have is the tips tend to distort and deform before the pen has run out, but considering the price difference compared to something like the Pentel Brush or similar felt tipped brush pens these definitely tick 95% of the boxes. My last pen managed 3 pretty detailed11x17" Transformers pieces before the ink flow started to deteriorate. I'd recommend these pens quite happily.

what else can I say about this pen other than I love it? i use it a LOT, especially when i'm working with copics and markers of similar nature. it's wonderful to work with and i've tried it with some Japanese writing too! both times the end results were wonderful, though I wouldn't recommend buying this if you wanted to just use it to write english or any other roman alphabet language. doesn't smudge and the tip is the right about of softness that makes it easy to switch between thick and thin lines. i'm glad i bought two!

This was my first brush pen and I fell in love immediately. I would definitely recommend to any beginners out there. A real variation in thickness can be achieved and is easy to use. I wanted a pen where the strokes were not too thick but not too thin when pressure is applied and I got exactly what I wanted. The pictures are accurate. However, I may have broken mine? I may have broken the tip by pressing too hard, although at the time I did not realise I was pressing hard. However, the pen still works and the only difference it has made is that now there are streaks in my writing but I kinda like that effect.

I have been testing brush pens for about a year and I always come back to this particular pen - it is soft and totally easy to use, gliding across the page like silk! Moreover, it is very durable, and the ink seems last for a long time. I have had mine for a year, and with moderate use the pen is still working as if it were new. I will definitely be purchasing more for my artworks and calligraphy practice, and would recommend this to both beginners and advanced artists/writers etc alike - suitable for everyone.

I bought this as my first lettering pen, and I think it is a very good option. It is easy to use and the ink flows really well. However, it came on a plain plastic bag, and as other customers have pointed out, the first thing I thought was that I had no way to know if it was new or used, so it will be great if they changed the packaging. Overall, I recommend it and I will buy it again.

Love this pen! It says “soft” brush pen, but the nib is quite firm (though flexible), allowing you to make quite thin brush strokes without having to switch to a smaller nib. It’s held it’s shape over a long time of use, no fraying or stray hairs. For a comparison, the Faber-Castell Pitt artist pen, B nib, is much softer and much more prone to fraying. It also can’t create as thin lines as this pen nib. The ink is waterproof.

Jag tycker denna penna fungerar precis som jag hade förväntat mig. Den kan göra både tunna och tjocka streck beroende på trycket. Jag tycker om att fylla i mina skisser med den och sedan måla med akvarell över då den är vattenbeständig. Rekommenderar den.

Der Fudenosuke Soft Tip ist ein echter Alleskönner und ein must-have in meinem Etui! Ich benutze ihn sowohl für Lettering als auch für die Outlines meiner Sketches. Sehr dünne UND dicke Linien sind problemlos möglich – allein durch Druckvariation. Den richtigen Winkel findet man sehr schnell. Man kann den Stift weit vorne und auch weit hinten halten und kriegt auf beide Arten tolle Resultate. Am besten geeignet ist er für Lettering in Dimensionen grösser als 0.5cm. Die Tinte hält relativ lange und hat einen schönen, satten Schwarzton, der weder ins Blaue noch ins Braune geht. Besonders positiv überrascht hat mich die Spitze: Trotz ihrer Weichheit ist sie sehr gut kontrollierbar und deformiert sich auch mit der Zeit nicht, was bei weichen Brush Pens nicht selbstverständlich ist. Es gibt kein Ausfransen oder Ausleiern und die Spitze spaltet sich nicht. Tipp: Den Stift am besten mit dem Deckel nach unten lagern, damit die Tinte bei Gebrauch sofort gleichmäßig zur Spitze fließt.
