Very confusing but gets good towards the middle and throughout the end..
Unlike the first book, the second book has so much going on it can be overwhelming. Which is a good thing - It starts to ultimately flesh out and explain that something is clearly wrong with one of the main character's, and we start to understand his mentality a lot more.It was a really good read however.

Brilliant adventure story
Set in historical China around 575 CE at a time of continued political and religious turmoil, this is a great historical adventure. The schemes of various powerful sects, families and nomadic cultures influence the Big Picture and the uncertain outcomes of who might inherit if the Emperor dies. As a history buff, I have just loved this as the backdrop to the story.Volume 2 continues the adventures of Shen Qiao, injured Daoist Priest, who is still under the nominal protection of Yan Wushi, demonic sect leader. As a reader, I have to ask, can opposites as far apart as these two really attract? Yan Wushi does not value people. He values greater cultivation and to merge the demonic sects together (something he nearly achieved in the past). Cultivation is an interesting concept in the story because it acquires powers similar to X-men, which in the case of the demonic sects can be at the expense of others' abilities, lives and freedom.Shen Qiao does not care about worldly significance; there is the Dao and Heaven and Earth, and he is unfailingly kind. This leads to him being totally misunderstood. Many think he is YW's lover, something YW plays up for his own reasons but SQ is leaving a good impression on some pretty important people. However, he cannot go back to Xuandu Mountain because he is as much at risk there as he is out in the world and meanwhile, an old friend with a new name swings back into his life.By the middle of the book, the 'not quite pals' relationship he has with Yan Wushi implodes and he is subjected to two most dreadful acts of intense treachery that has him fighting for his life, his beliefs, his sanity and everything else. This is such an exciting story because the characters are well-drawn and convincing within their reality and the cultivation world is full of event. The antagonism between two such very different personalities gives a dynamic drive to the plot. I enjoy every minute of reading it.

A Majestic Overture to Martial Intrigue and the Human Psyche
Thousand Autumns: Qian Qiu by the esteemed Meng Xi Shi represents not merely a continuation but a grand crescendo in the saga that is sweeping the literary world. As a diligent and discerning reader who has traversed the intricate pages of this literary gem, it is my profound honor to proffer an extensive review of this second volume, which stands as a testament to the author’s unparalleled storytelling prowess, an artistry that transcends mere words.Within the auspices of this compelling narrative, the reader is transported into a realm where emperors, generals, and monarchs vie for the zenith of dominion. Simultaneously, martial sects orchestrate brutal confrontations to ascertain who shall command the fate of nations. Amid this tumultuous landscape emerges the central figure, the fallen and humbled former sect leader, Shen Qiao, who, having traversed the crucible of adversity, now endeavors to unearth meaning amidst the swirling chaos.Meng Xi Shi’s virtuosity in storytelling emerges in full splendor as Shen Qiao encounters an improbable and enigmatic companion in the nefarious Yan Wushi. The juxtaposition of these two characters is a harmonious symphony of contrasts—a gentle Daoist master, Shen Qiao, symbolizing resilience and the indomitable spirit, and Yan Wushi, a roguish and potent demonic practitioner exuding charisma and an enigmatic allure. It is within this intricate dance of light and shadow, good and evil, that the essence of this volume truly unfurls. The author deftly navigates the labyrinthine intricacies of the relationship between Shen Qiao and Yan Wushi, rendering it with unparalleled subtlety and depth. Their dynamic metamorphoses with each page, slowly but inexorably evolving. Shen Qiao’s gradual reconstruction of his eroded martial prowess, beneath Yan Wushi’s enigmatic tutelage, is portrayed with exquisite nuance. Meng Xi Shi leads the reader to ponder the depths of this relationship, teasing us with the possibility that the famed Demon Lord may be succumbing to an unexpected warmth. Yet, lurking beneath this facade of cordiality, lies a complex tapestry of intrigue, deception, and festering treacheries that threaten to ensnare them both in its inexorable grip. The prose, a symphony in itself, is nothing short of enchanting. Meng Xi Shi’s evocative descriptions paint vivid landscapes, allowing readers to immerse themselves fully in the richly detailed world of “Thousand Autumns.” The martial arts sequences are breathtakingly choreographed, each movement rendered with a grace and precision that imbues the action with a palpable intensity. The settings, from the tranquil Daoist sanctuaries to the shadowy enclaves of intrigue, are vividly depicted, creating an immersive backdrop that amplifies the narrative’s impact.Yet, it is the character development within “Thousand Autumns: Qian Qiu” that stands as a luminous beacon. Shen Qiao and Yan Wushi, the lodestars of this volume, are rendered with a complexity that is awe-inspiring. Meng Xi Shi delves into the recesses of their souls, allowing readers to forge a profound connection with these characters. Supporting figures are no less meticulously crafted, each contributing to the tapestry of the narrative with their own distinct hues. The narrative pacing, a symphony of ebbs and crescendos, is a testament to the author’s narrative virtuosity. Meng Xi Shi deftly interweaves intricate political machinations, heart-pounding action sequences, and moments of introspection. This ensures that the narrative maintains an engrossing tempo throughout, a relentless cadence that compels the reader to devour page after page. The suspense, ever-thickening, becomes palpable as Shen Qiao confronts formidable new adversaries, while the tumultuous struggle for control of the Central Plains surges forth.Regarding the Kindle edition, it is imbued with a seamless reading experience. Features such as text-to-speech, screen reader support, enhanced typesetting, and Word Wise make for a reader-friendly engagement with the text. The inclusion of Kindle Scribe’s sticky notes elevates the experience, permitting readers to annotate and engage with the narrative on a profound level. In conclusion, Thousand Autumns: Qian Qiu (Vol. 2) is not merely a work of fiction; it is a magnum opus that transcends the confines of genre literature. Meng Xi Shi has not merely penned a captivating martial fantasy but an exploration of the human condition, resplendent with moral ambiguity and existential inquiries. This volume is an oeuvre that tantalizes the intellect and stirs the soul. A definitive recommendation is proffered to all discerning readers, for Thousand Autumns: Qian Qiu shall envelop you in a narrative tapestry of grandeur, intrigue, and the indomitable spirit of its characters, expertly crafted by the inimitable Meng Xi

Une merveille
Une merveille. Mon danmei favori.
