Excellent wisdom from the master
Shaun’s sportsmanship is second to none. Fantastic resource to learn the often mysterious surfer’s code. Grateful that Shaun took the time to share his wisdom.

By one who cannot surf!
i read this book some time ago. I am a South African living abroad so was out of touch with the surfing world (no such thing in Sweden). My sister advised me to read this book. I found it very interesting especially hearing about Shaun's career and the way he handled the tragic loss of his son. My heart went out to him and his family. His surfing obviously brought him close to nature and this helped him cope with and come to terms with his loss. I have watched many surfers over the years and always envied their obsession with the sport. I have had a few tries myself but it is NOT as easy as it looks!

Very nice. Just read it.
I do hate Self-help Book, but Shaun Thompson uses the self-help book type of narrative to tell part of his biography. He shares part of his knowledge with readers, pointing to moments that help him to achieve success and a better life.

Yes
I laughed and cries with this book. It contains suggestions for other books that I too am loving reading. Shaun Tomson understands on a deep level how to reach an audience. This book pulled me out of a holiday blues funk and got me back in the ocean. I recommend this and The Code by Shaun Tomson. There is some overlap but there is also a lot of information exclusive to each book.

Great book from a legendary surfer
Great book from a legendary surfer. Everyone please help keep our beaches, oceans and other wild places CLEAN, by picking up your trash (and, also, something left behind by someone else) every time you go. Thank you!

Very real, Very pure
This is a straight from the heart story that opens your heart and your mind and reveals some of why it is that surfing is such a magical and mystical experience. At 40 years of age and only 5 years into a lifetime of surfing I've always marvelled at what it made me feel but never fully understood why. I took a step towards understanding through the pages of this book. My connection to surfing and my kids are greater for having had this book in my library. Sincerest thanks Shaun.

Surfing through life .... hmmm, not so sure ...
I'm a great admirer of Shaun Tomson - i grew up into surfing when him and the likes of Rabbit Bartholemew, Martin Potter and the like were still legends in their own lunchtimes. I had great hopes for this book, but it just doesnt cut it. Shaun obviously has a great, and beautiful lifestyle, but the book has the feeling of being ghostwrite, and his passion and energy just dont come through. A few too many - "when I was world champion ...", and "When I was the best surfer in the world ...". None of the "lessons" really come through stron g enough to stay with you. I expected a life changing book - I've surfed around the globe for 20 years - and I didnt relate to this book at all. In fact, its one of the few books in my life I didnt finish! (and I finish em all!). Sorry Shaun - I think you are indeed a legend and a great ambassador. But next time, write your own book?

Excellent read
Shaun has clearly put a tremendous amount of thought into each sentence of this book. An amazing surfer with a very strong mind.
