My husband loves them
Super nice quality, sturdy and breathable. He likes the pockets but was a little cranky when the car key ring kept getting stuck in the mesh of the front pocket. They dried way faster than blue jeans and light weight, great for hiking.

Great fit, great performance!
Standard for all my reviews: When reviewing products, I always remain objective and honest about the product or service. I always review with information that I feel others would like to know about the product as I always assume what I'm writing will influence for or against the purchase. I always try to go above and beyond surface characteristics and input into quality, value and application. Most importantly, I will always end the review with an answer as to whether I'd purchase the product again which I believe is the most critical question pertaining to the item. To manufacturers: Want me to review your items, just let me know! Was looking for hiking pants to take with us on our three week adventure in New Zealand with temps in the mid to high 50s and some rain.. After trying multiple other brands in hopes of finding hiking pants that didn't look ridiculous on me, had the right weight, pockets and feel, I ended up with two pairs of the Silver Ridge from Columbia, 34x34.I'm 6'1"/190 and a true 34x34 fit in most pants. Many other hiking pants were very tight through the thighs and crotch or didn't hang well in the length. In most cases, I haven't found hiking pants to be fashionable so it's about looking as non-ridiculous as possible while still having pants that are functional.Once these pants arrived, the material seemed light enough and the colors were true to their on-screen appearance. Trying them on I was immediately hopeful. They were light but hung well, didn't crowd my legs in the thigh and the crotch areas wasn't overly tight as I've found in other pants of this style. I decided to keep both pairs based on fit alone. In service, these pants worked great. While I never unzipped the legs to convert them to shorts, I did use them quite often in both low 60s temps all the way down to the high 40s and low 50s in rain. The pants aren't waterproof but they do seem to shed water well enough for my taste. They were easily warm enough in lower temps and considered converting them to shorts in the upper 50s/low 60s. These pants would function well in the upper 30s in my opinion. The pockets are well laid out and function well, not overly saggy or too tight. The fabric belt isn't fancy but does the job. As mentioned previously, the fit is true at a 34/34 size which I needed and immediately won me over. Returning from our trip, I'm really glad I have these two pairs of pants in my drawer for the light hiking we do here in the PacNW. I'd recommend these pants to anyone looking for an all-around light weight hiking pant.

Legs are small
6'2" 235lb. Fairly built guy. Maybe 16-17% body fat. Bought 34x34, which is what I typically wear. The waist fits true to size. They are TIGHT on my butt and thighs. If I were to unzip into shorts I'd be wearing leggings. Material is good. Light weight. Can't speak to the construction. As tight as they were they would explode at the seam with the first high step or squat on the trail. Have to return but will try a larger size before abandoning them.Hopefully the 36×34 will offer a little more thigh room and I can cinch the waist with the belt.

Backpacker Tested
I originally ordered these pants to serve as my primary hiking/backpacking pants for use for day hiking and week long trips into the back country. I was looking for a pair of pants that were convertible into shorts as well to allow for my pants to have a "dual purpose" and combine a pair of shorts and long pants.First Impressions: Upon first impression I thought the fabric was durable, breathable and thought the pants were well made. I also enjoyed the fact that the pants included a belt, the belt wasn't necessary but it was a nice bonus.Pros:Convertible- These parts are convertible into shorts, however you will need to sit down to remove the pant sections as there is no additional zipper or stretch in the pants to get the pant section over a pair of boots or perhaps trail runners for that matter.Lightweight- Although probably not the most lightweight pair of hiking pant, I had no issue with the weight.Included Belt- This was a nice included feature. The belt is a nylon strap with a plastic belt buckle, with no option to replace the belt buckle if it were to break. The belt buckle seemed to hold position and didn't relax as I hiked.Pant Material- I did feel this material was durable and held up well to abrasions from scrambling on rocks and a few slips and falls while on the trail. I also did feel that the pants provided adequate sun protection.Cons:Fit- I am 5'10" & 170 lbs with an athletic build and I found the pants to be tight in the thighs. This was mostly noticeable when scrabbling on rocks or climbing over fallen trees or objects on the trail. While walking around on flat and well groomed trails I did not experience this issue.Removable pant portions- To remove the pant portions I often needed to sit down and remove my boots to remove these as they are not stretchable or have additional zippers to make them easier to remove. There is also an issue of where to put the removable portions once they are off. Putting them in the side pockets made the pockets bulge and feel uncomfortable and I felt putting these into my backpack and taking things out at camp and shuffling around only was asking for them to get lost in the future.Pockets- Pockets and thin and mesh. I would hardly put items in my pocket, but when I did I was conscious not to put sharp objects that could damage the pockets into them.Bottom line: I would not purchase these pants again due to the tightness and subsequent mobility issues while using these. Also, the zip off portions were not the easiest to deal while and added a lot of time with needing to stop and remove my boots. I personally would look for a hiking pant that I was able to roll up as oppose to unzipping.
