Fisher Bullet Space Pen - Matte Black

I bought one of these when I was about 12, visiting the Space Science Museum. Inevitably I lost it, though I remember it was the subject of envy from my little group of geeky schoolmates. Anyway, a few years on and I was looking for a good pen that would cope with the abuse of being carted around the highlands and camping, hiking, cycling, accidentally being washed, accidentally falling in ponds, accidentally being hoovered up, etc. It is a great little pen, lasts ages, writes on anything, the cap makes a comfortable length. The ONLY bugbear is no clip which you can buy for a fiver. Shrewd business tactics. Normally I would complain but instead I just marvel at their ingenuity with both pens AND business. Am I a sucker? yes. but also I am a genuinely impressed customer. My dog chewed the latest one and it has little teeth mark scars in it. the cap still fits, the ink still flows... it adds character to it. Buy one and keep it in your pocket for those times when someone searches for a pen. just be sure to get it back.

While it may seem like a lot to pay for a pen used on a day to day basis it is worth every penny to be able to pick up a device that works every time. No more scribbling back and forth to start the ink flowing if it ever does. The pen, when closed, is very compact. It is in fact about half the size of a regular pen when closed. When open the pen cover goes on the back of the pen to form a full length pen of normal diameter. The pen is very pleasant to the touch, a bit like gun metal though it is in fact a matt finish. The ink is black and very smudge proof. When assembled for use it feels very comfortable in the hand and as if it is in one continuous piece. Closed in it's bullet form it seems fairly indestructible in normal use. Very safe even in trouser pocket or hand bag. The only danger is it is such an attractive writing instrument someone is liable to "accidentally" forget to return it. You just have to get them to buy their own instead, that is what I am doing with my wife though in a different colour just in case she loses hers.

This is an excellent little pen. It writes very well. It is also comes with a gift box, so it is a perfect gift for all ages. Although it is small - about the size of a man's index finger - it's very well made. If you don't lose it, it should last for years. Never again will you have to worry about the ink drying up like in a cheap biro. Also it comes in very handy when you need to take a note where you don't have a table or something similar to lean on. When you hold a piece of paper against a wall and write on it works perfectly. As others have said, it is small so you have to be careful not to lose it.

Great pen that performs well. Recommended.

I bought this pen to keep in my every day carry bag as a pen that I can always trust will work no matter what. As claimed this pen WILL always write no matter what situation. However this isn't the best pen for writing and is why I gave it 4 stars. If you want a pen that writes nicely and feels good to write with, then I would recommend to look elsewhere. If you are going to buy this pen you are going to buy it for its reliability and cool factor alone. It is a very premium built pen so I would recommend it for anyone looking to purchase a every day carry pen to work in all situations.

I can't remember when I bought this pen, but it was years ago. It was more expensive back then, but with the benefit of hindsight now it was a bargain. It does all that is written on the tin - though there was no tin and i've no way of knowing if it writes in outer space. It being so small I just keep it in my wallet and am never without a pen. It's small but with the lid removed and then placed on the other end it's a proper grown up pen. It never smudges and I'm convinced it's going to outlast me and not need a refill. If you're thinking about buying one I would say do so. update: It was the perfect pen until I lost it out of my wallet. Somebody I hope had a terrific find and now loves it as much as I did. Further update: I couldn't resist I had to buy another and a plus was it was a couple of pound cheaper this time.

I haven't had the chance to use this pen in the field, but I tested it in my waterproof notebook (like a child at christmas). At first I put a droplet of water on the paper and the pen wrote through it, then I dunked the paper in water and the pen worked. I dunked the paper for longer and the pen still worked. My 'scientific' experiments concluded this pen is fit for purpose, well worth the money! I also realised the pen is quite small, but when you write, if you put the lid on the back, the pen is very nice to use, fits nicely in the hand.

Love this pen, it's my everyday work pen, i live the fact that I haven't ruined any trust or shirt pockets with it. I suffer from dyslexia, and the type of pen I use effects my ability to write massively, I did change the cartridge for the zebra 301 gel cartridge as the fisher was prone to pooling, but ever since the pretty simple hack the pen has been amazing. I added the gold pocket clip to it too and it really looks the part!!!

As advertised. Read the Wiki page for this pen.
