Silverline Drill Press Vice 65mm (380677)

This clamp is great for drilling and although lightweight, you can clamp down the clamp and it works perfectly....If you are after a heavy vice clamp then this won't be for you.

Cheaply made but the quality is adequate for the low budget price and light work. It will be used with an old Lidl drill stand.I checked the grub screw holding the end of the worm drive and found it wasn't screwed in properly. I applied some thread lock as suggested by others. But if you don't have any thread lock, I also cut a rectangular piece of plastic from a 5mm thick shims and placed it over the grub screw before refitting the silver metal plate. This should prevent the grub screw from falling out.

The silverline drill press vice is a good price and it arrived next day. The threads and body are aluminium but as i intend to use the vice with me mini work station i will not need a lot of presure on the vice to secure my work. The button on top is handy for either quick close or release. If you are going to use it with a largedrill press i would get one make from steel. This vice does the job i intended to use it for and it held my work securely.Did you know that in Pennsylvania USA...No one is allowed to sleep in a refrigerator.

Handy for small light jobs

I very rarely do negative reviews because usually I can spot a lemon a mile off, but here goes...Where do I start?! If you actually intend to use this as a machine vice to hold objects for a bench drill then really, don't bother. I wouldn't trust this to hold paper, never mind metal!The construction is massively flimsy to the point of being obsurd. I was intending to use this as a test on a lathe milling attachment, but that is just an accident waiting to happen so it's being binned, or perhaps I'll use it as an overly large clothes peg. One thing is for certain, it isn't coming anywhere near my machine shop!

Does the job at a good price. Not the most sturdy but that is to be expected at this price point

Fell apart on the 4th hole drilled - the moving jaw is held onto the worm screw with a grub screw that jacked itself out. Reassembled with some threadlock on the grub screw so hopefully will stay together. Lightweight aluminium body, works ok for home DIY purposes. Would've scored higher if it hadn't come apart
