Not a bad control glove, except one small issue when use with a gun.
Just want to say it is a nice glove overall. Its light weight and thin on top which is great. The impact aspect is thin and I'm confident it will displace or absorb some of and impact and protect you.. They look cool too (which is only mildly important).I mostly want to point out the one con I have with it. The index finger pad. I assume the made this glove with heavy duty work in mind. Since their main focus is mechanics, right? So I understand why they thought the index finger pad might be needed. But let me tell you it's horrible for someone who is using it as a duty glove. I wanted this glove as a subject control glove. That mean nice grips, impact protection, AND able to fire a weapon if it came to it. That last part is the issue. They only put pands on the tip of the thumb and the index finger. The other finger are a soft leather material. If all the finger had that leather it would be perfect. You can really "feel" thing with the other fingers. But you can't "feel" the trigger of a gun because of that annoying pad. So...If you buy this glove, which I do recommend. My unoriginal solution is cut the index finger tip pad off and dab some extreme weather epoxy on the freshly cut edge to seal it up. After I cut this off I lost index finger protection, but I gained complete trigger control. I WISH they made this glove exactly the way it is without that pad, but they don't. If you can stand having a cut off tip, buy the glove. If you can't, pass it up, because it WILL effect trigger feel.

Mechanix Knows How To Make Gloves
I work in law enforcement, handle a patrol/narcotics detection K-9, teach firearms, and work/train with our SWAT team regularly. That being said, after many years and dozens of pairs of gloves, I think these may be the best I've found yet.Gloveless isn't an option for me. The broken bones, rub-burnt palms, scars, and bruised knuckles that come with my work just plain suck and I learned a long time ago that gloves are a must. I've bought the cheap ones and the way overpriced ones. I've done Kevlar, nomex, leather, hard-knuckle, and everything in between. Mechanix brand has consistently been my preferred brand and they finally struck the perfect balance of protection, dexterity, and comfort with these. They're thick and sturdy enough in the palm to protect yet still thin and tacky enough to grasp things. The rubberized knuckle protection is thick enough to protect well against impacts but is still flexible and thin enough that I can reach into my pockets or other tight spots without removing the glove. The index finger isn't as tight as I have seen on shooting-specific gloves, but it's still fine for trigger manipulation.***UPDATE April 2014***After about two months of daily wear, the hook and loop wrist closure is completely shot on both gloves. Luckily the gloves still fit well enough without it that I may just cut the little tab off the wrist. They should have used a more substantial Velcro-type hook and loop or just put some elastic in the wrist. Otherwise the gloves are still solid, even without the wrist being fastened. I am taking a star away though.

Fine for hot days on the motorcycle
I bought these specifically for summer motorcycle riding. I've got an expensive pair of armored, gauntlet gloves, and a pair of insulated gloves for the winter, but I wanted something for those hot days when I'm irresponsible and ride without much gear. The bottom line is that I think they're fine for this purpose. They don't look like they will disintegrate during a crash. Of course, if you want real protection, a heavily armored glove would be better. But these are well padded on the palm. The stitching is as good as a cheaper pair of motorcycle-specific gloves, but not as tight as high-quality gloves. There is nothing magical about gloves made specifically for motorcycle riding--like everything, you get what you pay for. And your safety is your responsibility.

Durably made and protective!
Originally I didn't receive the size I thought I'd order, but even for slightly bigger in size - the durability and protection was exactly what I was looking for in a work glove. So much that I contacted the seller to confirm if they would have a size more to my size for a better fit. I was very pleased to find they did and put in for an exchange for a correct fit. Because I originally received a size slightly bigger than I require, the fingertip spacing was a bit big, however that did not make these gloves unusable if for some reason a smaller size was unavailable. They fit well enough that I knew these gloves would allow me to use as daily working gloves which would both allow for protection and mobility.

No complaints here!!!
First thing about this product, it's at least $7 less expensive on Amazon than any automotive or hardware store. While I think that paying a hefty $32-$40 for a pair of gloves to save my hands from knuckle scrapes is a worthy investment, saving some cash is always a smart purchase decision. These gloves fit perfectly and are by far the most comfortable protection I've ever donned on my hands. The fingers give great grip when working with smaller screws/nuts/bolts and the glove fabric is thin enough to still allow your hands to fit in cramped spaces. I've had other Mechanix gloves before but these ones are by far the best. Spend the extra $8, your hands will love you for it.

they didnt lie about the m-pact aame they can take a beating and ask for more
bought this last year and they have served me well in a truck shop working on logging equipment and the trucks, the rubber padding have saved my hands plenty of times from fracturing my knuckles when my hand would slip of a wet or oily wrench and id punch the frame of the truck or motor. they are showing there wear and heavy use but they still ask to be abused day after day and they still serve me well in this field. when its time to get another set I will turn to this company again and look at what new and improve items are out to try.

Definitely not offering the same palm and knuckle protection as the higher end motorcycle gear but I have owned quite a few disa
Wow! Never thought I would use a Mechanix glove for motorcycle riding.Definitely not offering the same palm and knuckle protection as the higher end motorcycle gear but I have owned quite a few disappointing motorcycle gloves over the past decade and this one is perfect for rides around town, daily driver and quick rips. I haven't tested them on long haul but so far the comfort, feel and flexibility of the material is better than I would have imagined. Definitely a must and once they care worn out I'm getting a second pair. The fit is perfect as a medium (5'9" and 185lbs with medium/small hands).
