If I have a 300mm piece of wood, i understand i can cut 2 surfaces with this machine. What about the other 2 surfaces of say 50mm? would i be able?

I think all of the answers so far have not read your question properly this thicknesser will cut to a hight of around 6 inches so youre 300mm timber will not fit in side ways to plane the 50mm ends a planer thicknesser would be a more appropriate to do this job where you could plane the 50mm sides on the top bed of the machine. hope this helps

Are the blades easily replaceable/resharpened? Has anyone had any experience of blunted blades?

Quite easy. You should know that a set of nlades has twp cutting sides. Whem the first edge is damaged you can just turn the blade around to use the second side.They are mega sharp and therefore you should use the magnets to lift the bladed off the rack they are fastened to.New blades are freely available on eBay and on Amazon but vary wildly in price. From what I have seen, you can get a new pair of blades from about £20.Please be very careful with the blades as they are as sharp as razor blades.

My new triton thicknesser has a larger chip chute that is standard , anyone know why ?

It has a 50mm chip shoot , if connected to an adequate extraction it will suck and pull through about 95% of the chippings into the the waste container , i use a cyclone fitted to a 50ltr drum
