Great value
Bought this after my old planer gave up the ghost. I'm basically a DIYer, so didn't need a real heavy duty product as I only use this occasionally. Firstly I was impressed with how quickly it arrived, and really pleased that it came in a sturdy carrying case to protect everything. I chose this model because it came with everything I'm likely to need included, namely a dust bag, and an easily detachable planning guide.I used it to-day, and was impressed when planing a new door. Excellent smooth finish, and easy to handle. It also comes with a neat little rear foot that prevents the blades from touching the surface when you put it down. It took a little while to get used to retracting it when in use, but after a couple of test runs, it became a simple task. It's cheaper than a lot of other branded tools, but it looks and feels well built, does the job, and saved me money.

Definitely well made and value for money
Planed several pieces of lumber, but the depth setting is not reliable. Its trial & error when setting deeper cuts closer to the 2 mm limit.

great
Used this the other day to take some meat off the bottom of a couple of doors which where annoying me so much that my eye balls where drying up every time I tries to open the door, worked great and feels solid, my only gripe is the flap inside the dust shoot could seal a little better as another fellow reviewer commented. The Stanley planer in Argos is exactly the same machine as this one only yellow and obviously labeled as Stanley fatmax and is on sale in there for about £100 so don't be fooled and go for this one... Unless you really like yellow and are willing to pay theextra 40 or 50 quid for it.

good
A well finished product and value for money, instruction book not with it. and the box is a bit big for the planer.

Good tool
A good tool. Easy to use. Much better design than my old one where the dust bag method of attachment was dodgy. This dust collector is very good and can be fitted either side. A little bit of dust does escape but it’s minimal.Planer adjustment depth is good and the unit is comfortable to handle.Carry box included. It’s quite large but strong and holds the dust collector etc.

Nice bit of kit
This planer was bought to replace a 20+ year old B&D planer which had, at last, passed into a well earned retirement. The blow moulded box is quite good and certainly makes it much easier to keep all the planer bits in one place. Just a shame that there wasn't a slot to hold the small spanner and a small hole for the plastic headed screw supplied with the planer. The option of left or right chip ejection is quite handy and the fence supplied is really sturdy and well up to the job.As another reviewer has mentioned, the Park Rest seems like a good idea at first but would be better if designed so that it can be locked up out of the way if required.Despite these very minor niggles it's a solid piece of kit and should be well up to any job that your average DIYer would throw at it.For the price it's really a no-brainer and the free delivery option from Amazon was very quick indeed, next day in fact.

THE OPTIMUM PURCHASE
Look at the other reviews and it is clear that for the price this is the OPTIMUM MACHINE for the occasional user or the keen DIY-er like myself.. I have used my new machine on some very rough new fencing wood with many knots etc and it still planes like new, that is down to the tungston carbide blades it was supplied with and these are easily replaced when nessesary. Yes there are one or two gripes the safety rest being one of them, it is a little tricky. However the machine and all that comes with it is well worth the money. Note:- if you want any better it will cost over twice the price of this.I fully recomend for the price and mine was delivered in two days free delivery . Brilliant !

Pay the extra and get this solid performer.
Bought this to skim the bottom off half a dozen doors. After umming and ahhing over all the range on Amazon and elsewhere I decided to spend the extra and get a known brand with good reviews - and I'm glad I did. It's solid and easy to use. The adjuster is simplicity itself. And the dust bag is huge and easy to empty, with a full length zip.It raced through the job, taking up to 5mm off 2 doors before the bag needed emptying.I've not used the guide, but it looks pretty robust. And the whole thing comes in a decent blow-moulded case.
