A worthy contender to the Nintendo pro controller
Hori has done it again! I think I like this controller more than the Nintendo pro controller. It's very well made; even the plastic used is high quality and will probably last for several years. It is much lighter than the pro controller and that's probably because it doesn't have vibration or gyroscopes built in. So if you plan to play games with motion control - it won't be possible with this controller. It also does not have Amiibo functionality. That's all the negatives I have come across at the moment. Now the positives: I believe that this controller is necessary if you play Nintendo style games where repeated button mashing is required. This is where the turbo function steps in - just assign any of the buttons to turbo and then gameplay becomes much much much more entertaining! For example: Breath of the Wild - you have to keep pressing "A" to pick up loot that is dropped by fallen foes - not anymore! Just assign the turbo function to the "A" button and voila! - keep it pressed down for the time you need it active and let go once all the loot is picked up. Same with the "Y" button for swinging your weapon - keep it pressed and "Link" will keep swinging at the fastest speed possible depending on the weapon you have equipped. I'm sure this will come in handy for quicktime events in game too.The wire is long and quite thick. I prefer it to wireless as I have definitely noticed a slight improvement in my timing while gaming with the wired controller. It's not something that can be described and you probably need to see for yourself. I've done a comparison and feel that the wired controller is slightly faster than wireless which I think gives you an edge. Also, you don't have to worry about charging it in the middle of a game.I don't mind the replaceable d-pad as I don't plan to get any fighting games. For those kind of games I would recommend getting this controller instead: HORI Nintendo Switch Real Arcade Pro V Hayabusa Fight Stick (Nintendo Switch) I'll admit, the d-pad is probably the weakest part of this amazing controller. It is quite similar to the pro controller, however not as good as perhaps the xbox one elite controller. But for the price, I am willing to over look this as everything else feels just right in the hand. I love how the buttons are positioned and the "+" and "-" buttons are different from the "home" and "snapshot" buttons which is good since I kept taking snapshots everytime when using the pro controller instead of pressing the "-" button.Overall, I would say it's an excellent controller. I've bought Hori controllers in the past for my other consoles so I might be a bit biased in my review. I would say it is worth going for it just for the features, build quality and price alone.

No "Madcatz" Garbage Here
Product arrived in retail packaging, sealed and undamaged. Worked immediately.First thing to note is that this controller feels very premium. The ABXY, shoulder buttons and both sticks feel solid and well constructed, and you can tell the "budget" nature of this controller has been achieved by sacrificing features (no rumble or motion controls) over build quality, which is refreshing. The removable D-pad feature seems redundant to me, as when the D-pad is on the controller works great. When you remove it however, the buttons underneath are quite deeply recessed into the body, and are a little difficult to press comfortably (for me).Lastly, and this is purely anecdotal (as I have quite small hands), the Horipad feels quite bulky to begin with, maybe slightly bigger than an xbox controller. That said, nothing is hard to reach, and using the pad is super comfortable, just took some getting used to.I might regret giving the fifth star to this product if its performance doesn't hold up over time, but given how good it feels, I'm hoping it will.Definitely a quality feeling pad, and definitely no "madcatz-esque" buy one-a-month garbage that I remember from the PS1 era.

Great controller for what I use it for.
The only 2 games I play on Switch are Mario Maker 2 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, I bought this controller specifically for the turbo feature and it works great, no drift and surprisingly good quality for the price.I really like the DPad on this controller as it rolls great allowing for faster inputs!

drifts a little, but perfect
ive had this controller for a while now! i really like it. it's super comfortable to hold. you can lose grip sometimes though. it's very sturdy and has withstood a few blows. one huge issue, however, is an issue with drift. i really didn't expect it and luckily it's only minimal. but the left stick drifts ever so slightly and sometimes misreads the input. it's not enough to notice most of the time. the wire is super long too. generally great. i hope it holds up for even longer

Good controller, works very well but is a little unpolished
I have had this controller for about 5 months now and can confidently say that this is a good controller; it works very well but is certainly missing some features. The D-Pad detaches and as such is not as robust as one might want, the button action isn't perfect. My Y button also has a bad action and is difficult to know when an input has been registered, making it tricky in online multiplayer games. It also does not have the gyroscope, NFC or bluetooth advantages of the Pro Controller but at such a lower price it can hardly be faulted for that. On the other hand, for the price (around £25 at time of purchase), I expected a slightly higher polish on it with respect to the buttons (the action of the triggers is fine but leaves a little to be desired), but I'm relatively happy with the joysticks though they can leave your thumbs a bit strained. For a few more pounds I could have forgiven this in favour of the gyroscope or maybe even it being wireless but as is I have to give the controller 3 stars as it works completely fine, but just rough enough around the edges that for the price I think it could be improved. That said, this is probably the best way to get a proper handheld controller for your switch if you want to sample it before committing to a Pro Controller. The two games I think it's most useful for so far have been mario kart - it is far easier to hold this and use the joysticks than a single joycon - and fortnite (for obvious reasons).

No English manual
Warning this product does not have a manual in English. You get taken to a website where the manual is in Japanese. If your selling a product internationally at the very least your manual should be available in English, Spanish and French. 1 Star rating as I'm unsure exactly how to use this product, turbo function etc.

For the price, it’s an easy 5 stars.
It’s a sturdy, decent looking, perfectly well performing wired controller with a very functional turbo function for $20. You really, really can’t go wrong. And it works on Switch and PC.For people confused about PC (Xinput!), it’s not plug and play. Each time you plug it in, you have to hold +, -, screenshot, and home buttons all at the same time for about a second or two. Your PC will make the “bee boop” sound of a device being connected and it will show up in device manager as “Xbox 360 Controller”. Works perfectly after that, including the turbo function. If you need something really good, wireless, and with more features (rumble and gyro), obviously you’ll want to look elsewhere. But for the price, you get a solid extra controller that you’re not going to very very upset about beating up.

Guter Controller!
