We've had an "old style" sodastre*m for the past few years, which wasn't broken but seemed to be losing its ability to inject enough sparkle into the bottles, so decided to replace it last year.So glad we did because this is proving WAAAY better. Love that -1. it can charge or recharge already-flavoured drinks, which is particularly useful for recharging some coke or orange that's been lying in the fridge a bit too long and gone flat, that would normally get chucked down the sink2. Unlike s-stream* there's basically no limit to how fizzy you can make your drinks - personally we like them ice-cold and "blow your head off"-fizzy and that's no problem with this. You can add 3, 4 or even 5 extra blasts to a bottle beyond "normal" - no problem! (I guess the absolute limit would risk exploding the bottle or filler cap so I wouldn't recommend going totally insane on that front - 4 or 5 extra blasts is plenty!)3. It CAN use standard blue s-stream gas cans - which seem to be the cheapest around - so that's cool.Just be aware that the refill bottles are NOT the same as sod-stream - they have a couple of essential extra protrusions hanging out the screw neck of the bottle - which keep it clamped in place - especially useful when your putting those extra blasts in! - and also mean that locking the bottles in to charge them is ultra quick n easy too!Negatives? The refill bottles are a bit pricey and often out of stock, and their range of accessories, flavors & recipes are so rubbish that they manage to make S-Stream's dismal collection actually look good!Nevertheless, the positives far outweigh those unimportant & frankly irrelevant minor issues - its the machine that counts!So if you want a great-value, reliable, versatile, fast & BETTER soda maker - look no further![*PS. Nothing against S-stream, their customer service people are fantastically helpful - the best! but machine-wise, they need to play catch up because this one just blows all their efforts away!]

I used SodaStream Terra for 4 Years, comparing this one to Terra, this one makes water not lose carbonation as quickly as it did with sodastream, im surprised how well it works, and carbonating everything i want is amazing additional feature

I liked the simple, neat design but ordered it not knowing how substantial this unit would be. It is good. Time will tell how it fares in everyday use but it appears well thought through. We bought this simply because we wanted to stop using 100+ plastic bottles a year. It won't be cheaper than buying cheap water (don't kid yourself). We have yet to discover how long the (quite expensive) cartridge lasts!

Very easy to use and we've had significantly fewer plastic bottles in our recycle bin so that's a good result.

I've got this and a sodastream. This is very delicate item. Sodastream is built like a tank.Sodastream can only fizz water. This can fizz pretty much anything. Love fizzy apple juice. Fizzy wine isn't that great. Neither is fizzy milk. Flat coke? Not anymore. Put the fizz back in.Worth it but treat it with care.

I waited a long while to buy this, after seeing it for the first time last summer. It could only be purchased from .com site, and the p&p was atrocious. But after the long wait I can safely say it was definitely worth it. I’ve turned almost every drink sparkling. My favourite has been apple juice! Very refreshing! It is not as noisy as the no 1 Carbonator in the market, and definitely more versatile. I’m very pleased.

This is a stylish machine, much more so than the main rival and better made. Whilst I was waiting to return my third (!) faulty SodaStream machine, I did a side by side comparison with the Drinkmate. The carbonation level was the same...any review that says otherwise is probably being given a machine! However the big difference is that the Drinkmate fizz stays fizzy a LOT longer. I fizzed a bottle of water and didn’t open it for 3 days, and it was still so fizzy it made my eyes water. SodaStream goes flat on a steady gradient. The only thing that lets it down slightly is that it’s fiddly to use, and if you get it wrong it makes a heck of a mess (you’ll only make that mistake once). I’ve found that it’s a ritual that I like though...nice machine that’s MUCH nicer on the eye than it’s rival, good fizz, saving the planet...

The fact you can replace the pressurisation head is a bonus as the machine ages parts wear you can renew for a very reasonable pricePlus the bottles can be easily cleaned at the bottom as the plastic base unclipsNice choice of colours
