Gave this cough syrup to our 17 month old last night. She's had a runny nose and been coughing at night- multiple times, but is happy, active and not coughing during the day. We decided to use her humidifier last night and try this cough syrup (I had bought it a few weeks back, but hadn't used it yet). She's been sleeping peacefully since about 9 p.m. and now it's almost 7 a.m. I didn't hear her cough once during the night!

Works but my kid runs from it because of the taste

My 3 year old was waking up coughing at night for months but never had a fever and was very active and happy during the day. I was perplexed. He did have some phlegm that wanted to come up but he is a very stubborn toddler and refused to spit it out. So we think that's why the cough was sticking around. I am not the kind of parent to rely on doctors to tell me what I already know nor do I want to use sythentic drugs to interfere with the body's natural healing abilities. I found this cough syrup and thought I'd give it a try and I'm so glad I did. I used this at night and the daytime version during the day and he has stopped coughing. I also use other supplements which could be helping too but the main cough stopped when I started using this. I give it to him in a liquid syringe while holding him and leaning him back a bit because the taste is pretty sweet and he's not used to that. Now he will occasionally ask for some cough syrup and because it's natural, I give it to him because it seems like it would be very soothing for the throat.

I saw Matys on an advertisement on Instagram and I figured we would try it. My daughter and I have been sick off and on since Halloween and nothing has helped. So I ordered this, the mucus, and the regular cough syrup. And All i have to say is WOW. First. It’s all natural. Nothing artificial in it. It’s even flavored with a lemon balm. Second It has a whole bunch of immune boosters stuff in it (including honey to help with the cough) that zarbees does not have. And third, it actually does work! It calmed my daughter’s cough and helped her sleep. I am 7.5 months pregnant and hate having to take medicine and being able to take this has been wonderful because I finally have stopped coughing. We now take Matys as an immune booster once a day and far so good. I love that I know all the ingredients that are in it and it is safe for my growing family and I.

First a disclaimer: They state that the item is organic and herbal, while this is true it may not be suitable for everyone (allergies to ingredients should be checked before purchase) plus certain herbs have been shown to interact with medicine and other herbs so don't assume that it is safe to use without checking everything first.We purchased this item as our 3.5 yr old grandson has been suffering from a productive cough giving him problems with sleeping at night, during the day the coughing is probably good for him. I gave him 1 teaspoon of the medicine (which actually tastes good in my opinion, being honey with a hint of lemon, and a slight pepper taste). He wasn't sure at first but told me that he liked it. After taking it, he did not cough all night and managed to get a restful nights sleep.

We've found that this cough syrup is really effective, but the taste can be off-putting for small children. My 3 year old, who typically has an adventurous palate cannot stand it. So it's been less helpful for him. For me and my husband, I've taken to drinking it like a tea by mixing the recommended dosage in a cup of hot water. It's been working this way for us and I find that if you take it when you first feel a cold/cough coming on, it can help head it off.

If you don't like ginger and spices, you will NOT like this product. My little wouldn't even go near it, and she doesn't mind most liquid vitamins. The taste and texture is very strong.
