Great hand-operated shredder.
Ideal for those small jobs, shredding junk mail that has your details on it, the odd letter, shop receipts etc. Follow the simple instructions supplied and you can't go wrong. Shredder teeth are sharp enough to cut through those flimsy thermal shop receipts and also through good quality printing / writing paper. There's a different set of teeth to shred CD's and Credit Cards which is a good design as usually shredding CD's etc in the main paper part of electric shredders is what tends to blunt the cutting teeth and work the gears apart, affecting cutting performance. So this design avoids such issues. Some have reviewed to say operation is a little stiff to wind the handle around but this is only because this shredder is geared to cross-shred. It's also turning several separate shredding wheels / teeth; x1 for paper, x1 for CD's and x1 for credit cards, so when you turn the handle there's several things going on at once. This also makes the head of the device a bit heavy (several cutting wheels) so those with poor grip in their hands I wouldn't recommend this device as turning the handle might be a little awkward where an electric shredder takes away such a concern. But this is much easier to store and use for occasional light use as opposed to a full on electric shredder which tend to be much bigger than this, heavier and would't store in a desk draw etc. Only shred one item at a time, not multiple items, this is what the instructions tell you and remember to give the handle a couple of extra turns after each shred to allow the cutting teeth to clear out any remainder paper etc. This is standard practice for good maintenance of the device. You can also buy specific shredder oil to keep the cutting teeth in good order but this device comes well lubed and greased so longevity shouldn't be an issue. Great value!

I found this product pretty good - it shreds well and is tidy enough to keep around the desk. You can do single sheets at a time, any more and it feels a bit laborious. The downside is it's quite top heavy so the lid falls off easily and you do need to hold it down while shredding. I don't mind these things but I am concerned about the handle which feels very flimsy and i feel this will break. It is not attached and gets knocked off quite easily. This is a good product if you just have little amounts to shred at a time and don't mind holding it down (it's also as noisy as the electric ones) I would recommend this one. Good for people like me that break every electric one they buy!

Fantastic little shredder
Fantastic little shredder! Not for heavy duty shredding but great if you just want to shred the odd piece of paper or receipts. The hand crank system seems to work well, saves on electric and I find it very handy not having to find anywhere to plug the device in. I would recommend for ease of use but i would say that it's important to keep checking that the shredder isn't getting clogged with bits of paper, you do need to spend a few minutes from time to time just removing bits of paper from the teeth to keep it runner smoothly!

What a pity
While this cross-shredder worked, it worked beautifully. The shredding mechanism simply glided through each sheet of A4 leaving it finely cross-shred within its container. It was actually quite fun to use. But after only a few weeks of infrequent use, there was a clunking as I rotated the handle. Not wanting to cause any damage to the shredder by using it further, I unscrewed the lid cover to examine the mechanism and to see if there was an obvious cause for the clunking. I could see nothing obvious so just applied a little grease to the cog mechanism hoping that the handle would now turn smoothly. There was a minimal improvement, but a few sheets later the handle jammed. The following day I took the shredder apart, and found the cog immediately attached to the handle was irreparably damaged. Several of its teeth were totally missing, others were worn and warped. The metal used for the cogs appeared to be weak and brittle, and not suitable for the forces and stresses that would be applied. I have since noticed a similar review warning that the cogs would not last. It is a real pity, as the actual shredding mechanism is simply perfect. I would quite happily have paid double or treble the cost just for cogs that would last a reasonable lifetime for the type of product. And it’s difficult to understand why the manufactures would ruin such good product, by using such an inferior metal. If you buy this product, I would estimate that it would not last more than a few hundred pages of A4 if that.

Good for the price. Can shred one piece of paper at once. Discolours in direct sunlight. Useless credit/debit card feature
For the price it's rather good... shame it can only do one single piece of A4 at once though. Maybe sharper blades in an updated model would help? The CD/DVD shredder works fine, though the credit/debit card is pointless as it leaves your card-number and magnetic-strip perfectly intact in the three strips it cuts. It is small and quiet though, so if you have modest shredding needs (not bulk jobs), and have no plug-socket near where you'd want to put a shredder, this does the job nicely. Be warned though: make sure wherever you choose to put this is not in direct-sunlight as it uses a cheap plastic that discolours (turns a shade of purple). Overall: good for shredding paper; fine for CD/DVDs but pointless for credit/debit cards. I'd recommend they drop the latter two features and instead make a future model able to cut more pieces of paper at-once for around the same price

A Peach of a machine!
I was looking for a small shredder and this seemed to fit the bill. I didn't want a large piece of kit cluttering the studio and this is small enough to be popped into a cupboard when not in use. As shown, there are three slots and the shredder is operated by turning the handle on the side. As mentioned previously the paper slot works best when individual sheets are introduced. I have also used the credit card and CD slot. All work well. The shredder is easy to assemble and is better made and heavier than expected. Very good value for the price.

A great shredder for the price
I've had this shredder for a few months now and overall I'm really happy with it. This is the first shredder I've owned and I was drawn to it initially by the low price and the cross-cut ability of the paper shredder. There are a few shortcomings, most notably the build quality of the handle which, as other reviews have mentioned, is a bit flimsy and comes off the shredder quite easily. Overall though, I think it's good value for money and does the job well, without the noise of electric shredders. The paper shredder is definitely the part that sees the most use for me. It can only shred one sheet of paper at a time, but the cross-cut destroys documents beyond any real hope of recovery. The shreds are really thin, rarely showing more than 2 letters of text per line -- a definite step up in security compared to ripping paperwork up that I did before. Since buying it, mine has shredders hundreds of pages of paperwork and still seems to be going strong. The credit card shredder also works well. It does only cut them into four pieces though, so for added security, it's worth shredding the pieces multiple times until a satisfactory level of destruction is reached and no information on the card can be read. For the CD shredder I had more of a mixed experience. I felt like the handle needed to be really forced in order to cut through a CD and I didn't want to risk breaking the mechanism by applying too much force. It was a bit of a shame, but for the rarity that I have a CD which needs destroying it's not too much of a downside; when the time comes, I wrap them in a bag and snap them in half like that. The shredder will cut CDs and DVDs into three pieces though, which is more than enough to make them unreadable. I would recommend buying this shredder if you don't have huge quantities of stuff to shred regularly. If you do, an electric shredder would probably be best. For low to moderate amounts though, this product will do a good job of keeping your information shredded and secure.

No funciona
