Style Me Vintage: Look Book: Step-by-Step Retro Look Book

This is what it says it is, it is a look book. I wasn’t sure exactly what I was going to be getting, but I was grateful to see that not only does this book gives the reader ideas for different vintage looks, but they also give suggestions on what to put in your make up bag, different websites to go to, different looks that define a particular error, and they even give helpful hints and suggestions to make it easier for the reader to attain specific looks. This book alone will not Be enough for you to master the vintage look if you’re hoping to become a pinup model or wanting to become more retro overall, but it is a fantastic start, and a really good quick reference for a beginner. I plan to have it in my photo studio, for clients to kind of browse through.

This book is so lovely to look through, and it is great inspiration for period looks, however there are a few looks that I find complicated to reproduce. For some of the more difficult looks they should have included a few more pictures, just so you can really follow along and get the look right. Overall I found the book quite helpful and fund to display!

I wish that's what I could put as a review and not have to elaborate. Meh sums it up. I was expecting more rockabilly stuff, but there's 80s clothes and hair too. It skims all the decades starting with 20s. It doesn't really show or tell you anything really helpful, and you could find better tutorials on Youtube. Honestly, if you can find it dirt cheap - why not? But if you have to spend anything over $7.00 to get it, keep it movin', ladies.

I hope to be able to use this book for hair and makeup tips during our towns Classic Car show over Memorial Day weekend and later this summer.

i have other books by this group of women, the only set back for me as a u.s.a. reader would be understanding some of the verbiage used, the writers are british. that's it - love it!!!

The best book I've found on vintage styling. The first section covers clothes from 1920s to 1980s, detailing key clothing items to create each period look and giving tips to ensure authenticity. The next section covers hair styling; 20s finger waves are illustrated, and as a1940s enthusiast I was pleased to see two 40s hairdo's, there are tutorials for victory rolls and the poodle. For fans of the 50s there's the pompadour quiff and Marylin Monroe curls, and for the 60s two versions of the beehive and Jackie O bouffant. There don't seem to be any 70s or 80s hairstyles though. The make-up section gives a guide to key items needed, and one key make-up look for each decade from 1920s to 1980s. There are also tutorials on styling eyebrows, using liquid eyeliner and false eyelashes, and manicures. A brilliant introduction to vintage styling, useful for general interest or as a starting point for an interest in a particular decade.

This book was small but thick enough in volume. There book gives guides to buying vintage clothing, how to achieve the vintage looks through makeup, hair and clothing with lots of tips, and photo guides. The book doesn't have a lot of different style choices but does give you a good basis to start with, and compacts all this information into one book. For those that wish to get started, this is an ideal all in one book :)

I bought this as I make vintage style lingerie to sell at vintage fairs,I wish to do my hair up in a forties style ,as I shall be wearing vintage style clothing whilst at my table hopefully selling stuffso yes it is exactly what I wanted ,am thrilled with it

This is such a lovely book! It covers from the 20's to the 80's, and even if you are interested on a specific era it's great to discover the transitions and influences of different years. There are tutorials for dressing and for doing your hair and makeup in different styles, and valuable tips on how to start (or thrive) on your vintage-inspired life : ) I got a second-hand copy and it was a great gift!

Lots of useful pictures, easy to understand format. A nice book to own.
